  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

lso we should be publically shaming the drug users and addicts that support these gangs and miscreants. We should be making the connection between their habits and the killings. News article should highlight this fact:

"Drug users complicit in weekend drug gang shootings".

More accurately: law makers who gave drug trade to criminals complicit in weekend gang shooting.

True. Guilt can go pretty deep into society.

Was it doing that one post per page thing? Because it was doing that to me too and I think it was a glitch.

Seems to be ok now.

Should we get our undies in a wad over the spate of gangland shootings that are occurring in large cities like Chicago and Baltimore? Or should we stand back and let them solve this problem themselves through attrition?

"I don't mind shootings, as long as the right people get shot." -Dirty Harry.
Depends on what is entailed by getting "our undies in a wad".

Are gangland shootings not a big enough deal to be concerned about?

Dirty Harry nailed it. :D

There are lots of problems that have simple solutions, but they are so profitable for those at the top that they are being milked for all they're worth. Why kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.

So, Dirty Harry not being concerned about what led to these things happening and why is a good thing?

That wasn't Dirty Harry's job. The why left the station long ago.

In that regard why don't these drug gangs use that money to help their neighborhoods instead of getting them all hooked? Lot's of money comes in from the outside, from white people. If they were smart it could be a four-way win.

Wasn't talking about his job, but concerned about it. I have many concerns about things that aren't my job.

That's a good question. Maybe we should look into what reasons (situational, choices, etc.) people would do things like that and assist in the things we can?

Now we're getting somewhere. If the drug dealers would help their communities and reduce their violence the cops would likely back off from enforcement. Of course we would need them to raise their prices to help cover other costs associated with the users. We could actually make lemonade out of this lemon.

The cynic in me says that wouldn't happen. A large reason why weed is so illegal is because of Nixon, who amped up the war on drugs despite knowing pot was safe in order to villanize and disrupt the communities he didn't like.

Great!

How do we go about that, aside from endorsing more drug usage, killing them or giving them a print out of your list?

I guess we're not getting somewhere after all. :(

Of course it won't happen. It was just a thought. These communities are lost and nothing will help. We are swimming toward a drowning person that we know will drown before we can get to him. We should just save our strength and watch from shore.

That is indeed a sad thing.

Either endorsing more drug use or letting people kill each other seem like dark options.
