My understanding has always been that no one, including Jesus, will know the day or hour Jesus returns. If there are Christians during the tribulation won't they know when Jesus will return? We know that the tribulation starts with the antichrist signing a peace treaty with Israel and ends exactly 7 years later, therefore we would know exactly when he will be returning and it wouldn't be unexpected.

Did I misunderstand anything?

The coming of Christ for His Church (commonly called the rapture) is not known to us nor even Jesus Christ. That will set in motion God's judgement upon the earth as described in the Revelation. That judgement will last seven years according to Daniel, so, yes, the final judgment will be known to those passing through the Tribulation - if they take heed to the Bible.

One of the strongest teachers in recent decades of the post-tribulation rapture was the late George Eldon Ladd. Here is a copy of the Conclusion of Ladd’s book, The Blessed Hope. I highly recommend the writings of Ladd on end times as I consider that he presents a convincing case for a post-tribulation rapture.

I say you are being literalistic and not literal.

But, my guess is it is a literal pit, just one that will hold spiritual beings; and my guess is that it would take spiritual chains to hold a spiritual being. Literal is not opposite of spiritual, that is where you are making your mistake. Literal is opposite of figurative, and in this case physical would be opposite of spiritual.

At any rate, the man saw chains, he described chains, until I see the Lord and He tells me different I'll believe chains, of some sort which matters not to me.

I'm not sure what it is you're trying to say; maybe you just need to go ahead and say it...

I think that the person who started this thread has a good question. Those who enter the tribulation will be able to predict the end. Being a Partial Preterist, I don't have to figure out all this tribulation stuff, because I believe that the tribulation happened some 2000 years ago. It wasn't seven years of tribulation as far as I know, but it was the worse disaster that had happened up to the time of the writing of the Bible. The 7 years is assumed by a false interpretation of the Book of Daniel concerned the 70 weeks. The 70th week was just a continuation of the 69 weeks. Seven years after the crucifixion the gospel was carried to the known world. It just seems more reasonable to me.

I don't know. Many people claim that they know but they probably didn't read the Bible properly. Some even say that our generation is the last one. Usually they relate it to the prophecy that says the next Pope will be the last one so everything pretty much hangs on that. If it's true, we are indeed in the last times and if it's not, well, Jesus might not return for another 1000 years. Whenever He comes, it's good.
