  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes, you do, because I find that completely incomprehensible. Your God gets people to rape other people? Okay.
You appear to make some of the "classical" errors that people make when talking about these kinds things.

Allow does not mean Cause.
The difference between punishment and revenge...(Pharoah's thing)
Trying to claim an action under one circumstance is different than the same action under a different circumstance.

God allows rape to happen. He doesn't cause it to happen.

God killed the children of Egypt and chose "capital punishment" as a means of punishment not revenge, and definitely not just for the heck of it.

And abortion under one circumstance is just the same as abortion under a different circumstance. Either way the baby dies. If the baby dies during birth then it was God's will for it to happen that way. But abortion takes matters into your own hands and keeps God out of it.

And abortions "fit into" God's plan for your life. He doesn't want you to make that choice, but He allows you to. Same thing as someone murdering someone else. He doesn't want it to happen, but He allows it, and it all fits into His plan somehow. Life would be a lot better without either one of them.

Ever read James:
"When tempted, no one should say 'God is tempting me.' For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone."
-James 1:13

"Every good and perfect gift is from above"
-James 1:17

Where did you get this crap from? What are you talking about?

How old is it?

Well then I would say that the baby should take precedence since it is more alive than the mother.

See this is exactly the game I wanted to play. Give scenario, observe opinions. Interesting. Instead I'm being accused of being a "horrible human being" who "kills babies".

By the way, why would she die if she gave birth? Couldn't they just give her a Caesarean and sew her right back up? (I don't know).

Hmmmmmm. Let's see how many "what if" situations we can come up with to justify abortion, shall we!

Um, okay, and you think those situations justify abortion????

Or is this just another "Mallory is a horrible human being for wanting to explore this" thing?

This thread is broken into two groups, those who say no abortion ever, and the other group who say well what about in this situation.
I decided to add a couple of situations.

But if someone did have an abortion wouldn't God be "allowing" that to happen too?

And that's some "punishment", killing all the firstborn sons. But hey he's your God.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I had assumed your post had some sort of point to it.

However following your criteria, we must look at the "stage of development" and even with the mother being half dead, she is still further developed than the fetus.

Ok, lets say she has a serious skin disease and if her skin is cut it will poison her blood supply and kill her.

What was the point then?

The point is you can take this discussion into the farthest depths of ridiculousness to try and justify abortions.

The point is you can have as many "What ifs" as you can imagine.

The point is if you take God and Man out the discussion, you have just a Woman who kills life because she does not want to shoulder the burden, no matter what her reason is.

Even the nine-year-old girl who was raped by her grandfather? Yeah what a selfish woman.

Mallory asks:
Would any of you "never" folks deny this girl an abortion?

GTX says:
I was with the never crowd until this popped up, Mallory, in this case I would not deny abortion, the girl is just a child herself. In extreme cases abortion could be justified.

But it also goes to show the gross immorality present in the world.
