How about you just tell me there's a cliff in front of me so I don't walk off in the first place. Do u have a problem with a 12-16 year old having sex?

Silent Bob said:It won't fly. It is inhumane to hand all these kids to the Christian right. If it was between Bible study, abstinence, no music, no internet or games and a bullet I would beg for the bullet.
Paisley Rose said:When we adopted the wait was only seven years. Now it is more like 14 or 15 years to wait to adopt. There is simply not enough children to adopt... the OP is totally off the beam. There are even more infertile couples waiting to adopt now than it was 20 years ago. Blame abortion on this fact.

Skinster007 said:Lol. Well right now nothing is working. Our abstinence programs and handing out condoms and teaching safe sex are both failing miserably. But how can they work when sex is plastered all over the place? There's young people having sex on tv all day long, sex in video games, every singer is half naked now, every commercial is geared toward sex. Hip Hop is all about sex and kids listen to it all the time, even while they're sleeping. We rarely see happy married people on tv anymore. So we can argue about abstinence vs. safe sex programs but there is a bigger picture out there. We have to come to common ground.

The rate of teen pregnancy is at it's lowest point in at least a decade, and the rate of abortion has been steadily falling since it peaked in the early 90s. It may still be too high, but the trend is going in the right direction. (I'll furnish links if necessary.)
Why is the situation so much different in Europe? I recently attended a seminar on overseas health practices. Teenagers in the Netherlands almost certainly have sex as often as American teens. Yet a Dutch girl is is only 1/3 as likely to have an abortion. Do people abstain from sex in Germany? Why is their incidence of HIV/AIDs 1/5th of ours? If you've been to Europe, you know that sex is everywhere. But Europeans BEHAVE MORE RESPONSIBLY. They use birth control (which can be obtained OTC in many countries) and seem to be better about safe sex practices. Sex education is widespread. Why can't we do the same?
