Here's a viable solution to abortion: "pro-lifers" should be forced to adopt all unwanted children in their country of residence. Of course, the adoptions will be shared out between all the pro-lifers evenly so as not to be unfair.

I also believe people should be forced to become sterile after one kid. With all these potential things becoming real live people, overpopulation is a serious threat.

I've always felt this way. I've never seen "pro-lifers" do much except argue about abortion being murder. It's high time to put your money where your mouth is. Change laws so that it's easier to adopt an American child than an Asian child, in fact, make it easier and cheaper while making sure the child is placed into a home where they won't be abused. Change the foster system so that people are not taking children in for the profit, and finally, vote to spend some real money towards child welfare, not a small band of over-worked, underpaid social workers.

But we NEEEEEED that F-22, because the Euros are starting to build fighters that can compete with the....F-15. How can we afford needlessly advanced and appallingly expensive weopon systems if we siphon off 3-10% to pay for a healthy population?

Here's a better solution. People should be more responsible and stop having unwanted pregnancies. People always want to come up with a solution after the damage has been done. How about we try to prevent the damage from ever occuring. Instead of handing out condoms after the 12 year old has been having sex, we teach them abstinence before they decide to have sex.

How about we try to prevent the damage from ever occuring. Instead of handing out condoms after the 12 year old has been having sex, we teach them abstinence before they decide to have sex.

Or give them condoms before they have sex. The reason teens have this problem is because of abstinence only programs. It seems a bit weird that your solution is to give 'em more of the problem.

I have a better idea. Give better sex education and give out free condoms on highschools, bars and so on.....It would lower the rate of teen abortions a lot!

By the way, there are a lot of abortions for other reasons as well..........

It's unrealistic to think that you can talk hormonal teens out of having sex. It will happen. Sometimes, if people are going to fall off that cliff regardless of what you say, the only option left is to bubble wrap 'em (to use your analogy).

The problem is, research doesn't back up your statement. in theory, it sounds nice and correct, but when implemented, it doesn't work.

If my 5 year old needs condoms, I have much more to worry about then teaching them abstinence.

Do I have a problem with 12-16 year olds having sex? It depends, honestly. They should be taught abstinence, but they should also be taught how to protect themselves if they aren't going to refraim. If you were walking towards a cliff, I would tell you there was a cliff up ahead, but also wrap you in bubble wrap, because that is the best thing to do, in case you don't take my advice and decide to go off the cliff anyway.

Because that has been shown not to work. It's like I told me son the other night: you KNOW you should be having sex. Your every fiber demands you have sex. So if I come along, loo dee doo, and tell you DON'T you, being a bratty fourteen year old know it all, will realise almost imediately I am just being a reactionary moron, and you may, considering again you are a bratty know it all 14 year old, actually determine to have sex just to spite me for being so arrogant and self righteous. I would rather you knew all the facts, the good ones and the bad ones, without any of my moralizing or percieved authority trip. And if you decide to ignore all the facts and dive in to some young lady I would absolutely rather you know how to use a condom than not.

And you are ONE OF THE SMART ONES. The DUMB who consititute 99% of your peers, by the way, don't have a hope in hell if some idiot screams "don't" in their faces every day. The statistics seem to bear this out.

I don't know what he will do with the info I gave him. And frankly he is a human being and will do whatever he wants, regardless. But I am willing to bet I don't have grandchildren fro at least eight more years. Any takers?
