I guess that's one of the problems a party like the GOP faces, when its ideology and base are motivated so much by bigotry of all sorts. The Republican base won't support its own party's candidates if they're the wrong religion or race or sex or sexual orientation.

Not that I'm a fan of Mormonism. I suppose less votes for the GOP isn't a bad thing in the grand scheme of things.

Maybe you missed this:
In U.S., 22% Are Hesitant to Support a Mormon in 2012

If being unwilling to vote for a Mormon is bigotry, then Democrats are 50% more likely than Republicans to be motivated by religious bigotry. In fact, out all of the things they measured, being a Democrat had the strongest link to "bigotry", with the exception of having no college education.

Democrats and liberals have valid policy-related reasons to be reluctant to support a Mormon candidate, as Mormonism is a very conservative religion with historical views on blacks and current views on gays that would give any social liberal genuine reason to pause. It's not about theology, it's about policy. Not to mention the fact that Mormons are an overwhelmingly Republican bloc.

But Evangelical Republicans, on the other hand, share much of the socially conservative worldview of the Mormons. And again, Mormons are an overwhelmingly Republican bloc of voters and candidates. George W. Bush ran for president as Mr. Evangelical, and yet Utah was by far his strongest state in both of his elections, getting nearly 72% of the vote in 2004. Even John McCain got almost 80% of the Mormon vote. The only reason Evangelicals won't return the favor to people to share their right-wing ideological vision is due to religious bigotry.

Hmmm so wanting a nation of common heritage, history, faith, and values and it has been for thousands of years until recently makes you a bigot? You're living in fantasy land!

Yes, wanting an all-white, all-Protestant, all-heterosexual society is bigotry. Going back to the values of racism, sexism, and religious bigotry that characterized traditional American society is not acceptable.

A Christian nation is the only way for me.

The white-black-brown thang is your own hang-up, not mine

Move to Vatican City if you want to live in a Christian theocracy. Move to one of the following if you want a country with a state-sponsored Christian church:

State religion - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And as far as Denmark, Sweden and Norway is concerned - the church in question is mostly "Christian" in name only. There are real congregations and pastors outthere, but they're in the absolute minority.

I'm willing to have many different minority groups in this country since my people aren't native to this land either, as long as my group gets to keep its own culture, heritage, faith, etc. and for each culture to not try to dictate to others what to do or how to do things. Right now, the government is going AGAINST the white Christians that have built this country since it's founding.

Soo... It's only bigotry when the people you hate do it. Gotcha.

I'm curious what nation has had a common heritage, history, faith, and values that lasted thousands of years? China is about the closest I can think of that might fit that description.

China is a pretty good example. Japan is also a good one. Many European nations fit this bill as well.
