Thankfully, I live in a country that keeps winning the war against Russian disinformation like this.

Its not Russian disinformation, but EU disinformation that's the biggest threat to democracy in the UK or Europe.

Well, one hundred years ago there was hardly any wars and hardly any rumors of wars.
Now its on a daily basis we get rumors and actual wars, more then ever.

In 1919 a large proportion of the world had just come out of the most destructive wars in human history (approx 25 million killed during WW1), the Russian civil war was underway (6 million killed) as was the Mexican revolution (1 million) and in less than 10 years the Chinese civil war would kill another 9 million or so. The Armenian genocide would continue on past 1919 for a few more years as well. And of course in another 15 years the mid-1930s would see an outbreak of conflicts that would lead up to WW2.

On what planet does this period count as "hardly any wars and hardly any rumors of wars"?

Ignorance of history frequently leads to that history being repeated.

More than at any other time in history?

I guess I don't see today as particularly remarkable, or different from any other time the Church has already been through.
I think the question I'd ask you is what to you would constitute the time that 2 Tim 3:1 warned about....."in the last days perilous times will come" and then it gives a description of what it'd be like. If indeed we could NEVER know or be able to pretty well guess we're in such times why did Paul use the term?

Well, it seems clear to me that if the last days are to be any different in that regard from preceding days, that description would need to apply to, at least, a highly intensified experience. But, as I said in my post, I don't observe that that's the case right now.

These days are pretty much the same as the ones that came just before. Perhaps slightly dumber.... I'll grant that.

The prism of American religious fundamentalism intensifies the experience. And basing ones political theology off one verse from a book that likely was pseudoepigraphal is typical of that approach.

The article by Rev Rowan Williams seems a good critique of the consequences of Neoliberalism, and a sort of critique of the forces behind Neoliberalism without ever mentioning Neoliberalism or the Neoliberalists.

It is way too diplomatic for me to fathom.

A dunce like me would prefer it in the form:

This is what is going wrong
This is why it matters
And this is what we can do about it

And multiple genocides going on. But I guess Armenians and others don't matter to some people.

And multiple genocides going on. But I guess Armenians and others don't matter to some people.

It mattered enough for the Senate to unanimously vote on Thursday to formally designate the 1915 mass killings of an estimated 1.5 million Armenians at the hands of the Ottoman Empire as a genocide, to pass legislation making this recognition a matter of American foreign policy. This was a bipartisan mission, with Republican Ted Cruz and Democrat Robert Menendez co-sponsoring the measure and striving vigorously for weeks for it be passed, despite strenuous objection from the White House. Senator Cruz was faithful to this duty and imperative to convincing other Republicans to vote in defiance of Trump's objections. The House passed resolution recognizing the genocide in October, with a 405-11 vote. I actually do believe their actions are a reflection on the "common good."

It still doesn't matter to some people, though.
