A question.

I have a question for the guys. This may seem insignificant but I was wondering how important it is that your future wife/girlfriend is good at math. I’m not the best when it comes to math and it makes me feel very insecure. I wonder sometimes if it's an important factor. Would you still date or marry someone that struggled in this area?

It's not an issue for me - her mathematical ability wouldn't impact how I see her at all. From a theoretical standpoint, I view "poor mathematical ability" and most other ability shortcomings as simply lack of interest in that particular topic, completely unrelated to intelligence. From a practical standpoint, most guys are at least competent in math, so most couples won't lose anything if she isn't.

I wouldn't have much of a problem if a girl I was interested in wasn't good at math. She would at least need to be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide alright, though. But I wouldn't care whether or not she could do things like differentiation and integration.

That is #3,812,954,832 on my list of desirable qualities in a mate. It's right below "changes the baking soda in the fridge regularly".

Oh very funny my friend! Very funny! ^_^

I think it is important for the girl to know basic math, it's not an issue for e though, but i think it would benefit her, she shouldn't be a math scholar. It's not an issue that i would hang over her head or anything. I would still date someone and maybe try to help them out.

that is my two i think.

It's not that big of an issue. I mean she should be able to basic math. If she can't get 5x=20, there's a problem. But beyond that, I don't care much. Math is not my strong suit either, so I'd consider someone who was a little better at it than I am. It would be helpful for bill paying and whatnot. Of course, I've never had a relationship with anyone, so I don't know how well I'd mesh with a math type, or a non-math type for that matter.
