Thank you for sharing. Did Job forgive her?
I did answer that above....They had ten more children, and they were a happy couple, and blessed. She had ten more babies to raise in peace and wealth....happy and content indeed!

Thanks sis. I am specifically interested in the the details of the exchange of forgiveness that took place. It seemed to me that she really kicked Job when he was at his lowest and may have very well left him.

If this is a real account then his wife and family are dead. He received a new wife and more children than he had prior to his ordeal with Satan. God restored him to more riches than he had prior to the tests.

Who knows what happened to Eliphaz, Zophar, and Bildad. All we can say is that they lived their lives and died, awaiting judgment.

The 4th man, Elihu, who had been patiently listening to the discourse among Job and his three friends, because he was a much younger man, speaks true wisdom and convicts Job of his pride.

This young man may have become a rich man, blessed by God for his faith.

Yarddog, you think Elihu speaks wisdom?
his sounds like the rash judgmental tone of youth who have no respect for their elders

why do you think his wife died and that he got a new wife?

What do you think happened to his wife?

Job's pride? Can you elaborate? Thank you.
the idea that Job would even think he had the right to complain about the actions of God are seen by many as a type of pride

What do you think happened to his wife?
I am not sure, all I remember from the Book of Job is her telling Job to curse God and die, of her thinking that Job had some secret sin that caused him to be cursed so horribly
then at the end it talks about Job having even more children
so I just assumed that it was with the same wife, after the scene with God speaking from the storm cloud Job was vindicated.

yueah, that's what i remember about her too....i thought that she only added to his misery quadruple-fold and maybe was upset at God for taking her children, home4, and was ashamed of Job as he sat at the trash heap, covered head to foot with sores, in sackcloth and ashes, with dogs licking his wounds.....she was like a thorn plunged in his heart at such a time as that...

i haven't gotten that far in the study when God speaks from the storm cloud...

I think I was 15 the first time I read Job?
That might have been the first book of the Bible I read start to finish.

Really? I couldn't read Job for the longest time....i'm only now able to read and study it....

Job's anger toward God was caused by pride. How can someone claim that he is innocent and God should not allow him to suffer if not due to pride.

God quiets Job's pride when he begins to ask him where was he when God created all things, etc...

Really? I couldn't read Job for the longest time....i'm only now able to read and study it....
I felt the same way. I felt that it was too dark. God told me to read the OT and I obeyed. He then opened my eyes.

I had gone through something similar to Job. I suffered from pride. I had received God's Holy Spirit. I heard the voice of God but I didn't turn everything over to him.

I was married to a girl that God had revealed to me a few years prior. I was deeply in love but there was trouble in our marriage. I cried out for help and I heard God's voice, his Word tell me that only through faith could my marriage work.

I was Protestant at the time and she was Catholic. I felt that she had to change in order for that to happen so instead of having faith, I took it upon myself to fix the problems.

I failed.

After our divorce I was distraught and cried out to God for help. He then gave me a vision of all the things that I had done wrong and all of the things that I had failed to do right for her.

I had lost everything, as Job had, which was important in my world. After realizing my failure and turning my life over to God he began to rebuild me in his image. Righteousness granted through faith and not what I had sought, obedience to the 10.

God has rebuilt my life now, I have a new wife that loves me far more than my first. We have a son who is a great young man.

So much of my life reflects that of Job. A transformation from worldly to faith.

Praise the name of Jesus Christ.
