A Prison Dream

I had a dream a while back

Myself and two African brothers from church (we are all part of the worship team) were walking along a road when we were arrested and imprisoned. We were taken to an old wild west type jail, stone walls, bars at the window etc. All the guards were black men which led me to believe we were in Africa. Later my two African brothers were released but I was kept locked up. My girlfriend came to visit me while I was there. Also during my time there another prisoner was goading me, mocking me. I testified that God was in control and throughout I felt peaceful and in control although I was in prison. Also all throughout there was a fourth person with us although I never saw his face I think I knew who it was.

Are there any Josephs out there who can help?

I tend to agree with Evie; your dream does remind me in some ways of the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, from Daniel (though of course it's not a parallel story). from Daniel 3:

• ....our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods....
• "Look!" he answered, "I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God."
• "....there is no other God who can deliver like this."

But before I thought of that story I thought of this:

• ....and [pray] for me [Paul], that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. (cf Eph 6)

I believe that you may have a special calling as a missionary and/or evangelist.

As for the specific symbols, I'm not receiving revelation at this time; perhaps someone else.....

Regarding the fourth person I actualy knew it was the Lord himself. No doubt about that.

This is meant for hindsight, not foresight. He'll bring it to your mind, when it is time. It will bring you peace and power when you need it. For now, just put it away.

Thanks. I had the dream about 6 months ago and it has been shelved until needed. Good to get some points of view on it though

It is the condition of the world that wants to lock up the Word and keep it from being spread. The jail represents a "shutting up" of the Good News. The inmate mocking you could represent a fellow believer that is trying to discourage you. (We all know those type.) ... This story does remind me of the story in Daniel. In your dream you believed God was in control, and you had peace about it. This is the way you should look at everything in life.
