Not as pastors, let me clarify, but as moderators. They know Scripture as well as the rest of us, especially Garnet and they are very fair minded. They have common sense too and a sense of humor.

I feel that if you are dedicated enough to help out with a CHRISTIAN-oriented message board and mature enough to handle things that a moderator would have I see why it should matter what kind of belief system they hold as long as they can do the job properly.

I agree with this, which is why I've always felt CF should have rules against bad behaviour.

Changing the site rules - simpler, less legalistic, and more open

Changing the way moderators are appointed - the members decide!

Interesting. That basically takes the vision out of your hands again.

And yes, if you are not a Christian, you can be on staff, if people vote for you to do so

So how will CF be Christian any more?

Many people, including current staff, will not be happy with the above, and some will quit, leave or resign

Not surprising, really. Most of the membership wanted a Christian forum. It will be interesting to see what replaces CF.

Am so so sorry if this sounds rude, or mean, but am uncomfortable with the idea of non-Christians being on staff... insofar as, you likened it to a church. Non-Christians wouldn't be staff within a church.

Wide open forums is fantastic, but non-Christian staff at "ChristianForums"? Tis a thinker.

I agree. I know I'm young and don't know anything, but I can't see how this is going to be anything but disastrous. I hope and pray I will be proven wrong. I will go along with whatever the rules are here on CF. But non-Christians being on staff is simply a recipe for disaster.

Am I understanding this correctly? It seems to me that Erwin and staff no longer want to be the police, and now want us to police ourselves. Am I wrong? I hope so. Because someone once said "self-government is impossible without self-discipline". Christians base their morality on God while non-Christians base morality on self. How can there be any correlation on right and wrong when you have both Christians and non-Christians on staff?

Again, I hope I am wrong about all of this.

I think like Praying said, it should be viewed as a job. The mods shouldn't be here to lead the sheep, but to enforce rules and keep order.

That's not what staff has been told. Staff has been told that their primary job is Christian ministry.

I hope we atheists can behave ourselves.

As much as I disagree with Christian theology, I respect the right of Christians to have a place where they can go to discuss issues amongst each other without having every thread devolve into an attempt to prove to an atheist that God really exists.

I know I will try to be respectful of theads where it is apparent that an atheist's perspective is neither sought nor appreciated. I hope my fellow atheists will do the same.

Feh, wasn't like the "safe" places were all that safe. They had their own problems, such as isolation and becoming desolate as one group began controlling things with an iron fist about who had the right to be there. I'm sorry, but being a Christian is not about being an elitist, IMHO

Folks, we need to grow up and stop acting like junior high school students with our little cliques and silly exclusion rules. It is time to act like adults.
