Not every new believer gets into a church. God forbid, there are even churches out there that teach this new agey stuff as gospel. Don't you feel the slightest obligation to help a new believer? Is this a Church? Discipling takes place in a local Church - person to person (LIVE), not online. Online (computer) is just a tool like telephone, TV or any other technical resources that avoids person to person.
the irony! We are in the world of self-deceit that we are too focused on ourselves to see the eternal truth.
http://www.christianforums.com/t2851743-excuse-me-erwin.html&page=1Erwin said:Reasons:
1. To me CF is more than just a website, it is also a ministry, and this vision is something that only Christians understand and appreciate.
2. All our rules and policies, though it may appear generic, have foundations in Christian doctrine and the Bible.
3. This site is Christian forums and although non-Christians are welcome, the target audience is still Christians.
4. A large majority of Christian members will not submit to being moderated by non-Christians.
All of the above points can be challenged and counter-arguments brought forth, but this policy will not change while I remain webmaster.
Do you *really* believe no person to person communication happens here at CF??? Or am I misreading your post bro???
But they don't, do they? We are responsible for discipling new believers. They will search the internet for Christian boards and find Christianforums.com. When they arrive here, they see uniting all Christians blah, blah, blah. When they begin learning that their only obligation to god and whatever jesus (small letters intentional) is being currently preached that day is to be open to everything, we are not helping them. Indeed, it could be said that Erwin is responsible for allowing them to become loster than lost. I wonder if he's considered that at all in his spiritual soul searching?
No. They're still going at it like DrStevej and Deren in a pen.Hey, I just woke up and haven't had a chance to read over everything. Are people still overreacting and spreading vitriol due to this announcement, or have they settled down and actually allowed it to start working yet?
Don't misunderstand me, online is a great tool to preach the gospel and edification. Discipleship is personal and belongs to a local church or local home church or whatever. For 3 years, Jesus taught His Disciples who became Apostles after His death. What kind of education did Jesus gave them? He discipled them personally.
Discipleship is personal and spiritual.
ABsolutely, but read and think about Romans 10:14 -We are in the world of self-deceit that we are too focused on ourselves to see the eternal truth. When truth speaks, there is not burdens but rather "The truth shall make you free"; that is, free from the woes, the yokes, the burdens. To avoid causing others to stumble is itself strong incentive to walk by the Spirit. Biblically, Christians are no longer "in the flesh": "You are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Flesh follows the rules while Spirit follows the conviction of the Holy Spirit.
But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him" (Rom 8:9). "If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit." Galatians 5:25. The Holy Spirit dwells in me with all the power and gifts of God, necessary to enable me to walk the noble, spiritual, Son-like life with God. Being thankful releases me from fear and worry. The presence of worry could mean a believer doesn't understand who God is in order to trust Him. In my life, I have learned to trust every situation to God's sovereign control. "God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." (2 Corinthians 9:8). Reading 2 Corinthians 12:9 says "God said 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me." First Peter 5:7 "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you".
The main thing to understand and remember is that Jesus is OUR SHEPHERD that He will supply all our needs (Phil. 4:19) and that He knows everything about our lives (Ps. 139:3), cares about us (1 Pet. 5:7), has the power for every difficulty (Ps. 62:11), is perfecting us to be like Christ (Phil. 1:6), and that nothing escapes Him (Ps. 147:5), that will lead us to be stable, not anxious living.
