I think you miss the point. I'm a former non-Christian myself and I'd be the last person to say I don't want to interact with non-Christians. One of the things that does concern me is the removal of faith icons. How do we know who is what? Could someone just sign up as a troll pretending to be Catholic, Orthodox or whatever just to cause trouble? It's always possible because some people have very little to do with their time.

I'm extending you an open invitation to come into OBOB once the restrictions are lifted. I consider you more than welcome to come in from what I've seen of your posts. I know to some people that a faith icon is like a badge, but it certainly makes it easier in the long run.

You know, this is the first forum I have known of to use faith icons. Ones not using them work. Besides someone could wear anyone they wanted to if they were being dishonest. Icons dont stop dishonesty its sorta a false sense of security dont you think? Knowing others by their fruit is still possible without the badge, I rarely look at the badging myself.

Besides being children one is naturally tossed to and fro by various winds of doctrines. That stinks, I get it. BUT we also are to exercise ourselves unto discernment as well that we might discern good and evil. It is an exercise for us. Thats what I was sorta thinking about.

Though after seeing GA it has a nastiness there Im not too fond of. I would not desire the board to be overun by that kind of thing. On the otherhand (being fair now) sometimes (despite the badges) Christians can behave worst then some of the athiests. Both are equally guilty of unacceptable behavior.

Im not into debate for debate sake thats for sure. An atmosphere of flaming (constant provocation) is not somewhere I desire to be. I hope that doesnt become the norm. Im all for sharing my faith with the world, discussion etc, but I also enjoy sharing my time with those of likemind and not being chased around for an argument at every turn. Thats not fun.

Peace

Where do you see in the original post by Erwin, that faith icons will be removed. Please tell me, I do not see that if item

f.

f. No more restriction of faith icons - who are we to tell you who you are or what you believe in? In fact, no other restrictions - if you want to call yourself married, go ahead. It is between you and God, not you and CF.

This is what they're after~saving the seekers and others from the "chains of legalism" and freeing their minds.

We are the enemy of these lost folks and the new reign of liberty and tolerance will usher in a golden age of enlightenment upon these souls...can I get an amen...we don't need rules and we don't need doctrine...we don't even need a bible..we only need Jeeezus and love and whatever you think Jeeezus is will be TRUE for YOU...hallelujah brotherz and sisterz and those undecided inbetweeners...bring all your beliefs and feelings here to be baptized into these Christian Forums...we don't care if you are married to a man, a woman or a goat-you are married if you says you are married praise Jeeeezus. Are you a Christian Witch or a Christian Muslim or a Christian Druid or a Christian Pagan? Do ya believe God is in the rocks and bushes? Praise the rocks and bushes for they are your GOD and we're fine with that and give us some more time and maybe they'll be our GOD too. Don't believe GOD but want to be a Christian anyway-we can accomodate you too at no extra charge, though love offerings are always welcome. Voting for Truth daily, come early and come often
My higher power is a lightbulb is that ok?

Everyone PLEASE.

Our bickering and being rude to one another is exactly how satan wants us to respond!!!

How do you know what Satan wants?
Why must we always question each other's intentions?

Because that's what people do when they have no solid argument.

Why must we pick apart every single word that someone says??

This is how you force your own opinion on them. If you show them how wrong they are one step at a time, eventually they'll believe what you believe. It's been that way since well....a long time.
God have mercy on us, we're all hypocrites.

Yup. You know that part "Let the dude w/o sin cast the first stone" ?. And then nobody threw anything.

dogood, if he's violating them then so are you. His defence isn't a matter of your opinion on whether it;'s right or wrong. Don't dismiss what you don't understand.

What?

What rule am I violating by reaching out to you and others and trying to dialogue peacefully? What rule am I violating by reminding still-current moderators that they should continue to behave as a moderator is expected to behave?

And what don't I understand? I was a christian longer than you've been alive :) I was even once a fundamentalist. I know how fear, especially fear of change that you don't like, can make you overcome by emotion. But I understand that regardless when you are in a position of authority and trust you continue to act properly in that position.

I am leaving this thread, I'm not fond of being judged.
Ruth, I don't think that anyone was judging you.

I think the balance comment was about you using your head, and not just going on the hurt and emotion of what is happening here.

Intolerance was also a characteristic of Christianity during the time of the Inquisition and during the time of the Reformation of the 16th century, and even sadly during the early years of the Puritan movement in the USA. It would seem, now in year 2007, we as Christians should move forward in our ability to discuss theology, Chrisitan history, prophecy, etc, etc., with a level of maturity not seen since the time of the Apostles.
As I have pointed out, this is historically how it works. There will always be oppression. It is just a matter of who is doing the oppressing. If you on the side of the oppressors, it seems what they are doing is a good thing.

Man is man. I have yet to see any evidence that we have evolved to a new "level of maturity." Technology has changed and we have more history to draw upon to avoid some past mistakes, but man is still man.

I pray that each of us, would

STOP

and

Prayerfully ask what we as individuals do in this situation.

I do believe that we must quit, the anger, and resentment, this is accomplishing only division.

Embrace the darkness and say, "we are one."

The Tower if Babel was Unity without Truth.
God judged it.

Even as an atheist I agree that you are correct :) To that end I will excuse myself from the thread. I can only hope that those who are enduring the trial of CF becoming something they did not expect it to be will be disappointed and find that it becomes an even better place than ever.

God has a plan. For you. For me. Even for Satan. In the book of Job, God used Satan for various things and taught Job some very important lessons.

I'm not trying to imply anything. It's just something I want you to think about.

Yet I'm not sure why you said that....

I am thinking about it though.
