Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

A little perspective.

Keeps me up at night:

  1. Is it ethical to borrow from the Guild Bank account to pay for weapon and armor repairs when I don't put anything in?
  2. As a Priest I have a moral obligation to help the sick and injured and to show charity and compassion to others. But it really chaps my hide when some reckless noob charges alone into a crowd of higher-level enemies and immediatly starts shrieking "HEAL!!!!!!" if his health drops below 95%. If I heal him doesn't it just encourage bad behavior? He's just going to die anyway, I'll waste a lot of mana on him when I could be healing people who actually FIGHT AT THE FLAG!

It's climate change for me. I find that very scary indeed.

For me too, although it isn't the fact of climate change that is so worrying, but that so many people look to the government to solve the problem of climate change, when government is so terrible at solving problems. If we have to rely on government, we're doomed.

I think that the ethics and politics of "what to do about climate change" is something that deserves more consideration than I fear it will get.

eudaimonia,

Mark

Every interaction with another human being (even through media) is governed by rules of etiquette and certain expectations of decency and morality. Granted letting some dope die in a virtual reality world because he was acting like a moron is far less consequential than letting that happen in the real-world. On the other hand thousands of living-breathing individuals die every day OFTEN of things which are totally preventable (starvation, disease,...war) and we don't lift a finger to help them.

That should be a sobering thought.

This.

So much fuss about the unborn children; what about these?
Well, Mr. Scrooge (an agnostic) would say, "Let them die and cut down the surplus population."

I would say that there is no difference between doing wrong and doing wrong.

I think it's worse to let born, suffering children starve than to snuff out something that isn't even self-aware.

Each to his own, though.

Well I suppose it comes down to what each person percieves as an important issue.

I worry more about children starving in any country than abortion issues where it is the mothers right to decide, the mothers of these children don't have much choice but to watch there children die of poverty and hunger..oh and lack of contreception.

But hey ho Nipper.

Like others have suggested, it's good to see your tiny mind can't differentiate between the severity of the two issues. God must be so proud of you.

In comparison to the education offered in other countries, the mediocre schooling that American students get is lamentable.

On the zombie issues...my fear is that a lot of them are registered voters.;)

1. No. Unless you are the GM, you should always put in that which is at least equal to that which you withdraw. If you are the GM, then screw it. If anyone complains, just /gkick them.

2. [wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth]. I have the same problem on my priest. ..well, I did when I was Holy, but now that I'm shadow I just "lol" if someone dare ask me for a heal. I say, just don't heal them, and refuse to rez them. They may call you names and /spit on you, but in the end showing them this kind of tough love will teach them invaluable lessons for future skirmishes.

When I was a noob I was wholly devoted to the Light and people found that amazing. Apparently that's considered an endgame and raiding phenomenon. I don't see why since an individual doing quests can certainly benefit from improved/cheaper heals. But that was then.

In my 30-40s I discovered the joy of Battlegrounds. Healing your fellow soldiers in battle is a rewarding experience in and of itself. But there's nothing quite as satisfying as melting the face off some smug warrior who is undoubtably thinking "Pfft! He's just a clothie". So I went down the dark path and gained many honorable kills.

When I had enough of killing I left the Shadow way of life. For a time I considered returning to the Holy tree and again becoming talented in that way. But then I met another Priest, an Elf, with powers much greater than mine, powers I had never seen before. She told me of another path which few understand and fewer follow. Most Priests laugh at the very idea of it.

And so it was that I went down the path of Discipline. This lead me to greater stamina, greater strength of spirit, and higher intellect. I learned to turn my opponent's own strength against them and discovered (much to my delight) how to fashion the Mages' own magical energies into a weapon against them. In short: I had become truly powerful.

And I still get the "Z[wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth]ZORZ!!! GOOD HEALZ!" :p

I lol'd. Excellent post :)

My priest is almost full Shadow with some points in Discipline for survivability. I mostly do arena with that toon coupled with a Warlock. We do pretty well in 2's (although our rating is pretty lackluster atm, due to me swapping out other characters in that bracket to try and earn some points. We usually sit anywhere between 1650-1700 when I'm not screwing around with alts). I have a 70 resto dr00d also, if I get the urge to do some healing.

Armory my priest if you want. "Soothsayr - Crushridge Server"

1. Poverty - local, national, and worldwide.
2. Drug/alcohol abuse.

I am adamant about granting equal civil rights to homosexuals, pulling American troops from Iraq and Afghanistan, and abolishing abortion and capital punishment, but nothing else really fills me with such real fear and dread so much as the two issues listed.

What's drives me nuts?

The treatment of the poor--nationally and internationally.

People who claim that certain groups do not deserve equal rights...

People who insist on shoving God down your throat.

People who seem to think they are a "knight" slaying evil atheists and jobberwockeys--and that they are brilliant.

People trying to enforce their morality on others.

People who poke fun at those in pain.
