This is the point. How do you describe someone from an unknown origin? Last night I tried to think of other ways to profile someone without offending you. I don't have a large vocabulary so how would I describe someone from afar?

"Dark skinned" is the usual way, if I had seen the person. If I had not seen the person but knew he was latino, calling him a "brown person" would be rude.

I see, that sounds better but I didn't want to misconstrue him as African descent, I get you. I do think it's best to be color blind and that includes White even though I am half Yellow. Yes, I saw my mom discriminated against and I would bet from people from both sides of the aisle. My mother in law not at all because she was in the majority in El Paso.

But, I do know that NONE of the people whom I know will ever give any excuse to attempt to justify abuse.

It's very hard to know when a person is being abused. Abusers have a knack for for keeping it on the downlow. Particularly with emotional and financial abuse it can show no overt signs. This is a good reason for no fault divorce.

And anyway, what's wrong with no fault divorce? If there is no love in the marriage why keep it going?

When I survey the U.S. social and political landscape, one key attribute I see missing is empathy. If we wish to be unified, we must learn to love the person with opposing views, even if we hate a policy or behavior that person is promoting.

In politics, we don’t always understand the reasons for a movement and are prone to only address issues at the surface-level. For example, when discussing matters related to feminism, there is a tendency to only focus on some of the issues that have grown out of the movement, like the abortion question, rather than trying to understand the personal experiences or trauma that might have led the other person to hold a particular opinion. A deeper understanding would enable a more comprehensive, empathetic discussion on the underlying issues rather than just the visible outcomes.

As the nation grapples with the idea of unity, I propose that we hold onto truth but with an empathetic listening ear. Let’s make an effort to understand the circumstances that have led a person to hold a particular social or political position. As we listen, let’s ask God for the kind of wisdom and understanding that sets people free. As Proverbs 21:22 says, “A wise man scales the city of the mighty and brings down the trusted stronghold.”

Marriage is supposed to be a relection of Christ and Church.

Only for Christians. For other people marriage has nothing to do with the above.

Divorce is extremely destructive to families and children and in turn damages rhe fabric of society and a country.

Not as destructive as bringing up children in a loveless marriage where bitterness and resentment are the lessons of childhood.

When it comes to political and even cultural topics, I believe it is a good idea to attempt to come together with people across the spectrum of beliefs in order to try to find common ground as Americans. However, there is no doubt that the Lord God Almighty has allowed me to understand (perhaps not with 100% clarity) what is written in the prophecies of the Old and New Testament regarding the End Times and the Last Days.

but i tell us all IF JESUS were to return as a man and simply walk into a whole lot of churches ,
Guess what he would be told .
HEY DUDE you dont know JESUS , YOU DONT KNOW GOD , YOU DONT KNOW LOVE .
that is a fact .
and if you want to examine this for yourself . I invite you to BRING A BIBLE into such churches
and YOU SEE what starts happening and what you get told . I am telling us
we are in dire trouble my friend . the churches themselves , a lot of them , have no idea
what true christanity is , nor what it has lost , nor do they know they are still lost too .
another jesus has long been preached , another love that came of the world has long been embraced .

They got the religoins to merge . and they will and have found a way to get folks to become unequally yoked together .
As for me i shall focus on the biblical pattern for all things . And i shall not fear what man shall do to me
or worry about hard times . GOD is with the lambs . Our focus must return upon HIM , the gospel
and all biblical doctrine .
What i say next is not to accuse any politician of either side .
BUT take a peek at hitler . It might seem strange to us on how such a man
could have come to power and risen to power and been allowed to do as he did .
BUT before we judge too harshly that generation

who can make their life better , who can promise and even deliver on said promises .
EVEN HITLER DID SO . by the time he turned that economy completely around ,

Yes like the thief in the night. I've seen kids in the grocery store and had an uncomfortable feeling of abuse but how could I be for sure? Especially if you spot a bruise on their head.

I feel Boomers are more committed to the piece of paper and the younger not so much. I encouraged my daughter to leave my son in law after getting in his butt. So far so good, counseling. I did tell him that if he ever laid a hand on her I would kill him. I am a bad Christian.

It is not going to be my downfall, my friend. This world is not truly my home. I am just passing through. Although in this earthly realm, I am a citizen of the USA, my eternal everlasting citizenship is already up in Heaven with the Lord Jesus Christ and all who believe upon Him for their salvation and forgiveness of Sins. The Lord God has taught me through the Bible to live in the light of eternity while understanding that this life here on earth is only temporary... like a vapor in the wind compared to the eternal life with God Himself and all who have believed upon Christ for salvation and forgiveness of Sins.

When I survey the U.S. social and political landscape, one key attribute I see missing is empathy.

I disagree. Empathy is understanding what other people feel. A more worthy aim would be understanding what the other person worries will happen. If I knew what you feared for America and you knew what I feared (if I were hypothetically American) we could both sit down and look at any and all evidence that would either support or contradict what we both feared.

What we would probably find is that the things that we worried about are actually less likely than we imagined. I'll give you an example my side: I feared that America's rejection of Net Neutrality would be a disaster and it find it's way over the pond. It wasn't and it didn't. Had myself and a hypothetical person with the opposite views to mine sat down to look at the evidence together (to prevent motivated reasoning) I'd have probably arrived at a more accurate conclusion.

So understanding the emotions a person is experiencing is good but understanding what your interlocutor worries will happen is far more useful; to arrive at a common understanding with a shared conceptual space. Does that make sense?

That's pretty spot on. Silicon Valley is moving to Trump and he has the crypto community and speaking at the Bitcoin event. Whether you like him or not. If your concerns are primarily financial he's ideal. And he already said he wants a 15% corporate tax rate. Plus he promised a tax break for everyone and he'll owe the crypto folks. Which may mean a reduction of capital gains tax.

Ah, but that is a choice one does not need to make. Why would you have resentment and bitterness toward the one you promised to love and cherish for your whole life? You loved them once. Is love only a fleeting emotion or is it something more?
If one is in a so called loveless marriage it's your fault you got to that place. And if you got to that place you can get yourself out. That would be a much better lesson for kids than to just bail.

Bitterness and resentment is a choice. Choose not to be. Choose to care about the person. Show your kids what commitment looks like.

That's better for them.
