  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

 I am new
I am waiting to get an appointment for both my son and oldest dd for evaluation.

But til then I could use some imput.

My dd is just now 4 and she has this habbit of self-harm when upset. She has always been moody, had rages, and been hard to console but it used to be outward raging. Like throwing things or harming others :sigh: . She is not "mean" so as she has matured she has been able to resist lashing out. BUt now she has taken to scratching herself over and over when upset.

I dont know what to do for her:(

Could she be having sensory overload? My dd has sensory processing dysfunction and has many of the behaviors you are talking about. i would research that and see if she is a sensory seeker.

We use a weighted vest and lap blanket and those really come in handy when she is having a tantrum.

Just a thought

Any update? My sweetie was diagnosed with Sensory issues also. I have been told only an Occupational Therapist can diagnose this (at least where I am--Texas).

When my sweetie acts out like throwing things I tried having her face away from me, stand almost between my legs, I firmly but gently held her arms, and spoke firmly yet even toned to her telling her that throwing things is unacceptable behavior, and that mommy prefers her to stomp and say I am frustrated until she relaxed a little---then I prompted her to stomp her feet and say "I am frustrated" Which ironically was kinda cute since she pronounced it frussterated. She found this both stress releaving and kinda funny, so it helped her a lot. I was happy with it because she learned I would not tolerate the behavior and I gave her an alternate outlet.
