The Shack sold over 6.5 million copies, despite doctrinal controversies.
Rick Warren's books led him into secular and political notoriety.
Religious book sales brought in $2.58 billion in 2007.
Nearly 12% of Americans spend more than $50 a month on religious products, and another 11% spend $25 to $29, according to a national survey of 1,721 adults by Baylor University.

David Wilkerson put his prophecy onto a free blog site.

Most of Kilpatrick's products are a moderate $15.
His audio CD of R.E.S.U.R.R.E.C.T.I.O.N. – A Prophetic Insight For The Future is $10.
His ministry's site links to free sites, like Bible Gateway.
A few of his sermon videos are available for free.

Then why was Sid Roth advertising them at $30????

It costs quite a bit to print and distribute a book.
It costs nothing but bandwidth and labor to publish an ebook.

If he really wanted to get the message out to a lot of people, as a Jonah-like prophet (okay, not Jonah), then YouTube would reach people the fastest. Viral marketing would reach them faster. Requesting a guest visit on an existing TV show would be free to cable viewers.

A man needs to be paid for his time, but it seems a prophetic word should be treated differently than a weekly sermon. There were kings who "kept" prophets. But no record of them paying per pop.

If we believe a prophesy is a direct and possibly urgent Word from God, then it should not limit access to people who cannot afford purchasing each message.

Publishing a book requires a lot of time, organization, layout, editing and proofreading, negotiating with printer and distributor, scheduling, warehousing, postage, advertising... it is a big chunk of time and money for whoever pursues it. The book needs a price, but did he need a book?

Maybe he just wasn't aware of the comparisons.

All it takes is a few Christians who receive the word to pass it on. It isn't the prophet's responsibility to mass market what God speaks. We should be passing it on--we who are fortunate enough to get it. He is doing his best, I believe.

The sky is falling! LOL!

Not yet....

But it will.

Rev 16:21 From the sky huge hailstones of about a hundred pounds each fell upon men. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible.

Big hail... from volcanoes, fallout, and other forces that are not global warming.

 Good question!! I got the prices from the site. Even if he was using print-on-demand, the prices are usually standardized.
I'll just wait for it to show up at Goodwill or some other thrift store for 50 cents.

The $30.00 was for a donation to the Sid Roth organization. The book itself isn't $30.00.

People are so critical if there is ever a monetary amount included in the discussion.

Per the Sid Roth site, "Offer 9050" includes the "R.E.S.U.R.R.E.C.T.I.O.N." CD and a 3-CD set entitled "Angels Enforce Blessings" for $30.

As a previous poster points out, John offers the "R.E.S.U.R.R.E.C.T.I.O.N. – A Prophetic Insight For The Future" CD for $10 here:

johnkilpatrick.org/cart/product_info.php?products_id=118

John also offers the "Angels Enforce Blessings" 3-CD set for $20 here:

johnkilpatrick.org/cart/product_info.php?products_id=28

As you can see, there is no discount or markup.

Now, you could have received both messages for free. How? Attend the Church of His Presence in Daphne, Alabama.
...knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires.
BTW, anyone here download Christian music illegally?

May God release all His blessings for you.

I go to thrift stores to buy c.d.'s for three dollars.

So that way, you are paying twenty cents for a song rather than paying a dollar per song, and you get fifteen tracks on a c.d..

If I do buy online, I buy the entire album, because chances are that you will like more than one of the tracks on that album than just the song you went to purchase. But typically, I can find everything I want at the thrift stores such as Goodwill.

Thanks for clarifying.

Welcome here! An unusual first post, but thank you for the information.

Nope, but I'm sure there are plenty Christians who do. We can still scoff, right?

The question is: is the message worth $30. Many messages are, some certainly are not. The problem is you cannot find out until you purchase unless you trust the preacher based on past experience.

I have no qualms paying $30+ for a sermon if it is going to increase my faith and intimacy with the Lord.

On the other hand, I give away all of my material free except for my book (http://www.lulu.com/commerce/index.php?fBuyContent=5441807). I have no problems charging for the book at all, because it took my time, my revelations and my life. I only charge a token amount though, compared to the time it took to produce it and the profit I make on it.

I believe the Word should be available to all, especially messages on salvation and healing. However, discipleship materials I think should have a charge as people take things seriously when they invest materially in them.

(Talk about taking a post OT!)

Blessings,
Ben

The Word is available to all, in Bible form. Most people have to buy one, and others get them for free.

If anyone labours to provide teaching, then they deserve remuneration. It is part of the provision of God in the writer's life and who are any of us to deny them? If what they receive from God and put into writing with much concentrated effort is not important to you, don't buy it.

When I first saw this dire warning on Sid Roth as a teaser for buying something, I was a bit incensed. How could the word of God be for sale? I understand the price of books. I have published eight of them , and I can't afford to give them away. However the ebooks cost me absolutely nothing and I offer them all free. And it is questionable that my books contain the word of God. In any case, there is no urgent warning within them concerning a vision from the Lord that could impact peoples' lives. I totally concur that this info should have been packaged for reaching the people's hearts and minds and not their pocketbooks. This is not a case of the ox working the field. There was no work done to receive a word from God.

As with all gifts from God his prophetic word is given freely and for free.

You can test this guy out by biblical standards. Does what he say agree with scripture? Then if 100% of whats he says come to pass exactly then you know he's from God. God doesnt make mistakes or send a word 99% correct.

Otherwise, the bible says false prophets are to be stoned. In modern parliance they get remarried and come back again in a different form.
