*winces* More than I like to admit, though only one even remotely aimed for. The very first "roadkill" was an owl, of all things! There have been deer, dogs, striped gophers, squirrels, cats . . gaaa, I sound like a meanie, but living in the country requires commutes of at LEAST an hour a day . . and they dart out in front of you so quickly it's dangerous to try and swerve to avoid them.

((btw, trust me, there were often tears shed at their untimely deaths! Especially the owl!))

but in a jeep with FLAPS for doors, in Germany, in winter
[no warm air heaters in one of those]
with MORE-than, wind in your hair... it was windy everywhere
and incidentally, the only vehicle I have ever driven
wearing Leather-Gauntlets

No, I haven't either, but a friend of mine visited there a long time ago and said the number of people who live there was astounding.

No, but my immediate younger brother
climbed to the top of a fir tree, whilst in my safe-keeping
not only, but he swung from side to side, so that almost, the whole tree swayed
fearful of him being catapaulted to the ground from 30feet high
I urged him to descend with my 'heart in my mouth'

Yes. lol We had a big willow tree in the back garden when I was a kid and my sister was always climbing it. One day I decided to try to overcome my fear and climbed up there. It's always ok going up, but coming down... I made it safely, but it was a scary experience to me.

to invite me to join their number... I turned them down...

That brings back memories, dave, as my father made a really good bread pudding when I was a kid. Later when I moved out, I made a bread pudding one day, following a recipe, and it was rather dry so I rang dad and he told me his way of making it...much better. lol Dad had a patch of rhubarb in the garden and mum used to make rhubarb tarts, we called them...like a pie but instead of pastry all over the top, they had strips of pastry placed in a pattern across the top instead.


No, I've never entered any items in shows or anything. They used to have a big exhibition of all sorts of items once a year at the local show when I was a kid, and it was cool to wander round and see all the flowers and cakes and huge marrows lol and so on. They don't have anything like that now. Last time I went to the show there was very little to see bar businesses trying to get folk interested in their products = boring. lol

The Blackpool ride is a little daunting for me

Yes, but I was really scared...and in my student days, a number of us went to Blackpool, and I was foolhardy enough to join them on the Cat and Mouse.
I have rarely been mor terrified in my life! A roller coaster is scary enoufh..but this!...You hurtled down a steep incline at what seemed to be 300 hundred miles an hour, and at the bottom of the rail, it turned sharp right...I thought we would shoot straifgt off the end of the rail..thought, how could it possibly turn!
Since then, I have restricted myself to kiddy rides (accompoanied by my children or grandchildren), dodgem cars, and carousels. I'm sure it sounds silly, but I really enjoy those horses, and adults do ride on them - they don't bite or kick, and you'd be pretty hard-pushed to fall off them

((Your "Cat and Mouse" ride sounds exactly like one dubbed "Mad Mouse" here . . never again! *shudders*))

Only twice can I remember coming close to failing an exam: once in a Science class with a teacher who was in the throes of having a nervous breakdown and was fired a few weeks after the unfair grades were given, and once in college in a German class after being told at the doctor before class that I had "suspicious lumps" in my breast and my mind would just not concentrate. The Prof drew me aside to explore the anomaly, and allowed me to re-take the test. I ended up with an A for the class despite the key exam being less than sterling, bless her kind heart.
