  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A game: Have you ever...

HYE sat in the back of a cinema holding hands with a girlfriend? Or boyfriend?

LOL No. I HAVE sat in a cinema (have no idea what the flm was about)..twas my first boyfriend, and he bought me abox of maltesers which I was trying desperately to eat without crunching them and disturbing everyone about me. I was not adept at social graces, felt very uncomfortable, thus couldn't enjoy the film!. Thought I'd better eat the maltesers in case he wa offended. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.
WHY is life so difficult and embarassing?

HYE wondered why life is so difficult and embarassing, or can be?

Because ..... we have a view of ourselves [as we percieve ourselves to be]
and yet also see another view also...
ie: our perceived impression of what other-folks see in us
This can flummox us... when we attach importance to how we want others to see us
The 'embarrassment' comes; when, we have, or suspect we have
'let ourselves-down' in sight of others

Indeed, if we COULD [all] just be ourselves
what ? would we want to hide ?
We have all made mistakes, disappointed ourselves [and others]
shame, comes of, realizing, that we could, and should, have done, much-better
Here, if, and when... we have performed at our very best
then, surely, there is no way we could have been any-better ?
[for, WHAT, can be better than our BEST ?]

It is in the heart that the spirit can reign
in the mind that peace can reside
and in fellowship that family can grow

HYE... wanted to live alone [by yourself] because: company was 'stressing you'

Most definitely, yes! Although I have a feeling I wouldn't like it for very long. I'm pretty independent and quite handy with most things (except plumbing and electricity, lol), and think I could manage pretty well on my own, but hope I don't have prove it anytime soon. I guess whatever stress there may be with living with someone is nothing compared to having to do everything yourself. (I realize there are situations where a living arrangement can become horribly stressful . . as was mine in my first marriage . . and escaping abuse is the best choice)

HYE . . . owned an unusual pet? (such as a ferret or hedgehog or boa constrictor?)

were it not for a couple of son's making regular check up visits
I wouldnt have been able to prepare food and drinks, for myself

Yes - but I can't say more than that about it.

HYE wanted to try your hand at a self sufficient life style?

not really....
I did enter a small cave that proceeded to reduce into such... once
but I wasnt suitably dressed and nobody knew where I was
and THAT is a PRIME SAFETY CONSIDERATION
ALWAYS... let people know where you are going...
to give them KNOWLEDGE of... 'where to look' when they MISS YOU

HYE... been caving / pot-holing

nah.......my former mother-in-law lived on the top floor
of a block of apartments [flats]
and on a visit during some stormy weather
I was aware of the tower swaying...
and hurried my then wife into a swift departure

Coincidentally the block was demolished within a year
for reason:
the local authorities had discovered 'concrete-cancer' within the structure

HYE been to the top of a skyscraper _and, were you 'relaxed' up-there ?
