  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A game: Have you ever...

Yes, I have... A Golden Eagle
I snapped images of it, and published them here
having watched it it circle above our home,
climbing effortlessly on thermals
I wasnt that close to it and had to hurriedly apply zoom
and the focus 'suffered'
as I held the cam against a bright sky, whilst altering settings
using the viewer on the cam

I used to cross it very often in my van and in a car
but, walk it ?
Nah I would have been too busy to take the time when I was younger
and once, I became ill, walking it, would have been the last thing on my mind
That is.... 'some-walk' though phew!!!

HYE walked across the OLD Severn Bridge ?

LOL yes. Years ago we'd gone over to Wales..coming back late at night, no garages open, weren't sure if we had enough fuel to make it over the bridge. Didn't want to break down on it, couldn't afford to get towed off, so decided to walk over to the srevices the other side to fetch petrol.
It was a really enjoyable walk..would normally never have got the chance to do it. :)

Orange Juice... peeling an orange... in went the thumbnail
[to lift zest and pith] and the flesh 'spit' at me

Ditto the flame on my gas lighter [freshly filled]
I had inadvertently 'turned-up the gas'
while my reflexes shut my eye in time
my eyelashes and brow were sacrificed, to that accident

Ooooow! Lucky your eye didn't get damaged. My friend did that the other week, only he set fire to his hand...I was trying really hard not to laugh (as it was potentially dangerous), but he looked so funny standing there, shaking his hand about not knowing what to do. Luckily he only singed the hair on his hand. AND just the minute before I'd been telling him to be careful not to overfill it or spill it, as he could easily st fire to himself!

Yes, quite a few times, but the time I remember specifically, is when I was pressing the soap dispenser lever on a dispenser in a pub toilet, and the soap squirted straight in my eye. That was painful for a few minutes (That was in Wales too, come to think about it)

HYE played baseball or American football (if you're British). If you're American, have you ever played netball or English football?

Yep... my eye, saw the fire ballooning toward it and instantly, shut up shop
Another occasion I remember... I was shaking the Heinz Tomato Sauce bottle
but the last person to have it hadnt closed the lid
AND I hadnt checked, it was secure
and a huge 'dollop' slapped down my youngest daughter's face
she was aged four or five years, then
Of course, she didnt like water on her face back-then
and cleaning the mess from her eyes was made the more difficult
by her seeking to escape this 'attention'

HYE played baseball or, ......

Nah...... I was a slow developer
where for reason of undernourishment, I was smallest in my school classes
and such games caused me to receive damage [hurt] / bullying
I havent had any real sporty interests whilst growing up

The only interest I have had in footbal
is the 'football-pools' for a while, many years ago

No. I think I'd be useless at them!

(Prompted by Tansy's Severn Bridge question) HYE crossed the Clifton Suspension Bridge? (One of my favourite places - I'm getting nostalgic again!)

Alternatively (to prevent this becoming too British) HYE crossed the Golden Gate Bridge in San Fransisco?

*grins* I haven't crossed either of them, and it sounds like I've really missed out!

Have you ever made mud pies as a kid? (lol . . and if so, which I'm guessing most have, what did you "decorate" them with?!)

No, only sandcastles (sounds like I'VE missed out). We decorated the sandcastles with shells, pebbles, seaweed, twigs, paper flags and whatever else came to hand.

hye done a paper-round?

several times, in a car or van... I have stepped-out onto the footpath to snap pics
but haven't crossed on foot

alt: I haven't been to San Fransisco... nor, 'worn flowers in my hair'

Have you ever made mud pies as a kid?

LOL.... who hasn't ? sure!
and 'pebbledashed' the rear wall
of, my childhood 'brick-faced' home

hye done a paper-round ?

Yep! At one time I did 'two' morning rounds and an evening one after-school
and would help the milkman deliver at weekends also

HYE done a delivery/ collection round ?

This is getting very British. lol I presume a Paper round is what we call a paper route. I never did that but my oldest son did for a while.
I try to volunteer canvas for the Kidney foundation charity each year. In fact it is this month but as I have a cold and it is snowing like crazy here again I think I will wait till later in the week. Or maybe even after I get back from holiday on March 23.

HYE done volunteer canvassing for a charity too?
