  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was wondering what kind of chest, wood, plastic tote type??
I was looking for a cedar chest to store blankets and pillows in. Unfortunately it turns out that all the chests they had were frufru with flower designs on them. I could appreciate that if I had a wife, but as a single man it just doesn't fly. The selection was fairly shy, though - turns out they tend to come in for the christmas season - starting next month.

You know, I thought of a new strategy - buy all new living furniture. At that point it would automatically be time to meet someone who would want to replace all the furniture after marriage! On the other hand, since I don't think it's likely, I may actually go ahead and get new furniture anyway. :^)

So wait a month and then look. Have you been to any nice furniture stores that might carry Lane products? I think they are the most well known for cedar chests http://www.lanefurniture.com/produc...ame=Bedroom+-+Adult&ItemTypeName=Cedar+Chests (hope chests) and last I knew they some that weren't so frufru... hehe I like that...

I was pretty blessed, my Grandpa made me a cedar chest before he passed away. I don't store my blankets in it, it's my tv stand, but it's a treasured memory.

If you want and can afford new furniture, go for it, the more power to you! I finally broke down and bought a big bed (not a twin/single) in January of this year, I got tired of waiting until I was married. We only get one chance to enjoy this life, eh?!!

Oh! You simply HAVE NOT lived until you've sprawled across a queen bed that's ALL YOURS. The cuddle factor is fun, but sometimes you just want to say, "Mine, mine, Mine! All Mine!"

I got rid of most of my furniture because I got a roommate after the hubby and I parted ways, and she has an entire living room set. So if I decide after my lease is up that I want to get my own place, I have exactly enough furniture for a studio apartment or a jr one bedroom. :D

I have learned this enjoyment. Although the first night was a giggle, I got in on the side of the bed I usually do, but my lamp was on the other side, to turn it off I had to do the 'army crawl' to the other side of the bed... I giggled myself to sleep. In the last month I've broken the barrier of sleeping only on one side.. I now find myself all over the bed when I sleep. ^_^

See - people's minds actually do work differently. I purposefully don't have a queen bed anymore (except in the guest room), because it kept reminding me that half the bed was empty and pending an act of God was likely to remain so. At least with the single there's no hole, and it's sort of a declaration of "I'm single and living that way to the best of my ability". For me it was a setting aside of unfulfilled hopes, replacing them with a walk towards the future as well as I could.

ps - I did buy a new queen mattress for the guest room so my guests can be comfortable.

O K - it's Saturday, the events of the day are by... time for play! So I have my first attempt at foccacia bread - modified of course.... romano rather than parmesan, thyme rather than parseley, and all in the bread machine - rising is in progress....

Should make for some excellent bruschetta or mini-pizzas... :^)

that sounds good. I, on the other hand, just had a pizza delivered. yummy yummy, extra cheese! :yum:

You're ahead of me - I still need the bread to get done. The roasting garlic smells good, though.... I'd have ordered pizza myself, but after eight years pizza loses its attraction.... Fresh-cooked pasta, though... mmmm.

Maybe I'll do a little pasta with olive oil, romano and a little chopped ham...

------
ps - Your sig on elvis reminds me of the comment in the Shania Twain song... "Who do you think you are, Elvis?"

Mmm... roasted garlic... yummy. I enjoy cooking things from scratch, too. It's just not always practical for me...

sounds like you're cooking up the yummy, though! I wish I had some of that garlic for my pizza...

:) I know the Shania song you mean... that's a funny one. I guess my sig is just a comment that I am content being single and it would take something pretty big to change that.

because this way, all the leftover pizza is mine, mine, mine! :D

Now the fruits of the Spirit (besides garlic) are "mine, mine, mine!" ? :^P

(There are of course certain virtues in sharing the last peice of pizza... )
I've realized as I've gotten older sometimes virtues are over rated.:D
