  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A bit of Fun ..........

Hi, everyone!!

Great idea for a thread, Cygnus! :) I've been surrounded by music since I was born, basically. All sorts, from classical to country to pop to reggae to rock etc etc. I play the piano too, which means a great deal to me as a means of expressing myself.

As records faded out, so did my supply of cash to keep buying sounds........four children who suddenly turned into teenagers! ;) But my acceptance of the fact that my kids have hundreds of CDs between them and I have about 10! :D has undergone a radical change since joining CF........I'm becoming addicted........
OK, I admit it........I AM addicted to the idea of increasing my own personal collection of CDs with music which I've never bought over the years. And it's this forum which has influenced me in that decision, especially..........

At first, I just listened to some U2, Police, and Train.

Then I heard Further Seems Forever. I liked the alternative rock well enough.

Then I heard Copeland, and was hooked. The Get-Up Kids, Jimmy Eat World, Yellowcard, and Lovedrug came in quick succession. I was suddenly addicted to emo/indie/alternative rock in the space of a month. I like this stuff so much I jump at the chance to burn CD's by these artists for my friends.

U2 and THE POLICE have got a lot to answer for ................. :p

:D that reminds me of a true story , my friend who is a History Teacher had another Christian friend who was so zealous for the Lord , he called on him , and my friend's Mother said , "oh , he's in the bath ", but the zealous bro , just carried on "it's ok . I'll wait for him" , so my friend get's dressed and invites the zealous bro into his room and says we will pray now !
So on his knees he falls and commences to pray with my friend , when a good deal of time had gone (maybe an hour) my friend wonders if this is ever going to come to an end , so he makes his excuse
"er , Brother I will have to go downstairs soon , it's tea time"
to his shock and horror the zealous Bro says
"we are fasting today , bro!"

well he did let him go and eat but it just shows you how zealous some Christians are .... now where's that dinner I fancy :D

:D Yes, the idea of fasting for a day would fill my family with horror..........

So anyway, I'm thinkin' - how am I going to go about this upgrade of the ol' CD collection? Alphabetically? Or from most often mentioned, here in this forum? Or from just stabbing a pin into the list of Wanteds? :D

I don't disagree at all. I love them both; I just didn't hoard CD's like I do now whenever they were pretty well the only bands I liked.

Seriously, how'd you come about that job?

Seriously, God directed it.

I subscribe to a rock newsletter, one day I checked out the site it came from (not by coincidence or choice, God directed that too, too long & boring to go into), and there was a "writers wanted, click here" link, so I clicked it & jumped through the pre employment hoops & God worked in my bosses heart :) & he hired me, praise God! Now I'm happily ever after.

"The artists come and go, so does the show,
So does the dough, nothin' lasts forever, you know?
It's all about the experience and what you take from it,
What you learn in the process, what you make of it.
Number two in the world at the top of the summit, I loved it-
Should'a packed a parachute for the plummet...
Now I'm opening these clips crawlin' through mud pits
With guns and hundreds of clips on Uncle Sam's budget..."
- Canibus

Beautiful :). I love 'Bis music.
