Terrorists... was it worth killing all of those people? I guess the real question is Why... How are we so different from them? :(
1) yes - to them it was really worth it (until they found out on the other side that the promises of their religion were all lies), 2) we are much different from them, but until we acknowledge and accept that and stop trying to blame ourselves for their hatred and their motives they will always win.

Like the spoiled children we are we insist that it MUST be about us - our fault, we caused it, we just need to .... I, our, we, us...... not until we understand that, in spite of their rhetoric that feeds our infantile attitudes about the world, and grow up, not until we accept that it is about them and not about us..... only then will we have what it takes to defend and protect ourselves and defeat them....

a good standard source on Israeli news is the Jerusalem Post - http://www.jpost.com/

My husband's cousin and my brother's best friend were both in WTC2. The were both on floors above where the plane hit, so they didn't survive. I have so many memories of 9/11, it's hard not to cry when I think of it...even now.

I've been thinking lately about all the blogs and websites we would comb through, searching the survivor lists, looking for names we knew.
i am very sorry for your losses!

evilcy,
What do you mean by that?
He meant the fact that it was all conspired by the US goverment inorder to start a terror campagin in order to goto war not to mention the large amounts of gold bars they stole which was being stored under one of the towers.

For more information I suggest watching the documentary "Loose Change"

Though this message will probally be deleted because christains are not allowed to have opinions of their own they must follow the flock :( I'll pray for yas ;)

This thread is not about conspiracy theories, nor is it the place to discuss such things. If I had the authority to delete your post, I'd do so in an instant. So please, if anyone else wants to post such nonsense, do us all a favor, and DON'T.

Edited to add: My above comment was in response to a couple of posts that were clearly going down the road of bringing the whole 911 conspiracy theory into the picture or just trying to raise a bit of trouble. Hey, that stuff is fine to discuss (oh, I do so enjoy picking apart a conspiracy theory), but there are other places to do it, and this is such a cool post. Why start going off on tangents like that? Anyway, the mods jumped on it right away and deleted the posts. Thank you Mods! In the words of my four totally freaking cool kids, YOU ROCK!

I remember hearing the request to light a candle on the Friday night following the attack.

We brought my son and a friend to a youth event that evening that was changed into a time of helping the teens to talk about what had happened.

I remember driving by driveways where people were standing by the side of the road, holding candles, or had put out candles in front of their homes.

We were a long way from home and happened to go by the common in the town. We saw people gathering with candles. My husband and I parked and walked over to the common. People stood in silence, holding their candles. We didn't have candles, but 2 strangers who were leaving a bit later handed us theirs.

There was a flag pole on the common and all the people just stood about 15 feet from it, then they would silently walk forward and put the still burning candles into a sandy area at the base of the flag pole.

This took place in a very historic town in our country's history (sorry - my husband doesn't want me to say where we live) and for me, that added to the meaningfulness of the moment, knowing about the past history of this part of the country.

For a while afterwards, we would light a candle every night and have it out on our front stoop.

I too remember people in the streets with candles and a rise of patriotism flags all over how wonderful when the country came together and supported us.
