I hope you know how affected your Canadian neighbors were and are.

I was at work in a Long Term Care Home that awful day. The TV was on. All our channels were showing the heart breaking destruction. As I type this, goosebumps are forming and there is a lump in my throat.
The residents crowded around the TV set, squishing their wheelchairs together. All work stopped, many residents and staff offered up prayers for all those in the buildings, planes and their families.

My heart and :prayer: s goes out to those who have lost loved ones and to all you who live in the USA.

Sending  s for the pain & :prayer: s for comfort,
Wendy
(((((Wendy)))))
Thank you..from your USA neighbors

"Oh beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain. For purple mountains majesties above the fruited plain. America, America, God shed His grace on thee. And proud thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea!"

God bless America,
Land that I love,
Stand beside her and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above;

From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans white with foam,
God bless America,
My home, sweet home.
God bless America,
My home, sweet home.

Here are fitting lyrics for our time.

Cry Out To Jesus

Artist: Third Day
Wherever You Are
Title: Cry Out To Jesus

To everyone who's lost someone they love
Long before it was their time
You feel like the days you had were not enough
when you said goodbye

And to all of the people with burdens and pains
Keeping you back from your life
You believe that there's nothing and there is no one
Who can make it right

There is hope for the helpless
Rest for the weary
Love for the broken heart
There is grace and forgiveness
Mercy and healing
He'll meet you wherever you are
Cry out to Jesus, Cry out to Jesus

For the marriage that's struggling just to hang on
They lost all of their faith in love
They've done all they can to make it right again
Still it's not enough

For the ones who can't break the addictions and chains
You try to give up but you come back again
Just remember that you're not alone in your shame
And your suffering

When your lonely
And it feels like the whole world is falling on you
You just reach out, you just cry out to Jesus
Cry to Jesus

To the widow who struggles with being alone
Wiping the tears from her eyes
For the children around the world without a home
Say a prayer tonight

May God keep us safe from trials, restore peace in despair.

May His perfect will be done, as long as He is here.

May He dry our tears and heal our sorrows, as we wait for a brand new day.

But most of all, with a heart of hope, may God bless the U.S.A.

My husband's cousin and my brother's best friend were both in WTC2. The were both on floors above where the plane hit, so they didn't survive. I have so many memories of 9/11, it's hard not to cry when I think of it...even now.

I've been thinking lately about all the blogs and websites we would comb through, searching the survivor lists, looking for names we knew.

Amid the sound of the canon's roar, I hear the brave young Marine cry. Come my Lord; yes come at once. Please do not pass us by.
Amid the sounds of rockets, soaring through the sky. I hear the brave young Sailor's cry. Come my Lord; yes come at once. Please do not pass us by.
Amid the sound of repeating guns, I hear the brave young Soldier cry. Come my Lord; yes come at once. Please do not pass us by.
Amid the sound of screaming missles, I hear the brave young Airman cry. Come my Lord; yes come at once. Please do not pass us by.
Amid the sound of rolling tanks and weeping in the streets. In a far and distant land, I hear the children cry. Come my Lord; yes come at once. Please do not pass us by.
Amid the sounds of division, across our Nation free. I thank You Lord; for all the warriors called forth to fight for me.
Amid the sounds of an ungrateful Nation, Lord hear my humble plea. Come my Lord; yes come at once. Please do not pass us by.

Dear heavenly Father, I ask You in the name of Jesus to be with all those who have lost friends and relatives on this Steptember 11th. Bring peace and comfort to their hearts and bless each and everyone of them. Father I also ask You to be with America and Your precious children within. Let us humbly remember Your blessings upon us and stop taking for-granted the glory that You have bestowed upon us. May we all remeber that You are God Most High.......Amen

Baseball may not be to your liking... but there's almost nothing more American than baseball and when baseball returned to action ten days after September 11, it wasn't just another day at the ballpark...

"The people wanted to stamp their feet and say nobody could keep them away. They wanted to shake their fists at the sky and shout defiance and cheer for baseball. They wanted it more than another weekend of mourning and so did the players. We play, therefore we are."
Steve Jacobson - Newsday, September 23, 2001

9/11/2001 - A day that no American will ever forget. The horror of watching the Twin Towers topple to the ground. The terror, the losses and the sadness were so powerful that even pennant race baseball came to a standstill for 10 days. It was almost unthinkable that we could cheer for a team while in the midst of the unthinkable. ...And yet,on September 21, 2001, baseball came back to New York when the Mets played the Braves at Shea Stadium. ...And for the first time in what seemed like an eternity (while, in reality, it was only just short of two weeks), New Yorkers cheered together as a Piazza home run in the 8th inning led the Mets to a 3-2 victory over the Braves, putting the Mets within 4 1/2 games of first place. Although they never made it to first, this was amazing since they were as much as 10 games back in August.

It was an incredible scene at Shea. First of all, all the players wore NYPD and FDNY hats (and continued to do so for the remainder of the regular season). After the opening ceremonies, which included a stirring rendition of "God Bless America" by Diana Ross, the Mets and the Braves embraced each other on the field (things certainly had changed!). During the 7th inning stretch, Liza Minelli performed "New York, New York" with firefighters and police officers. (After that night, "God Bless America" was sung during the 7th inning stretch at every game throughout the nation.)

Special credit also should be given to Manager Bobby Valentine and many of the Mets who helped with the relief efforts when supplies were collected in the Shea Stadium parking lot for Ground Zero rescue efforts.

The Mets dedication to the September 11th cause continued into the off-season when they hosted the children of 9/11 at their annual holiday party (along with other disadvantaged children).

"Many of us complained that the Mets didn't hit in the clutch this summer. But no other baseball team has shown more heart and grace during this sorrowful, anxiety-ridden time than these Mets, who understand that they only play ballgames. The the really important work is being done downtown by the fire- fighters, police officers and emergency medical personnel."
Jon Heyman - Newsday, Sept. 22, 2001
