While replying to a post I had an epiphany of sorts which inspired the question I'm posing today. Two lattes may have added a bit of clarity as well.

So, why are you single? What's holding you back? Don't focus on a person or situation in your answer. Consider your contribution to the dilemma.

In a sea of singles, why are you free?

Being ignored by God and unlovable tends to put a damper on it.

Fortunately I don't think you caught the earliest version! I think it's better to wait than go with what's easy... and I have things to work on in myself, anyway.

For me, it's been difficult to find a good woman who isn't a narcissist. The age we live in, with the advent of the internet and social media has also for the most part completely ruined the concept of organic dating; how does "john" who despite being a good person and a good man, stand a chance when "joe" who is also a good person and a good man but is a little bit taller and makes a little more money is only a click or a swipe away? The reality is, most of us are single nowadays because people literally "window shop" for a partner, rather than get to know someone and organically grow to appreciate someone for who they are.

Are all the women you've encountered narcissists? Is this limited to the Internet or have you experienced the same in person? What is your ideal way to get acquainted?

The honest answer is yes, they have been.

This is not limited to the internet.

My ideal way to get acquainted is to have actual conversation and spend time together.

When I think one this two reasons come to mind initially. One is rather superficial and one is more substantial.

One reason (the superficial one), I think, is how tall I am. I am quite tall for a woman. I am over six feet and most men, I find, do not particularly find tall women attractive.

The second reason, and I feel more important, is I am not very easy to get along with. I am often a mean and cold hearted. I am easily annoyed when I am around others and will express that I find someone annoying quite openly to that person.

First, I would like to say, as a man who is quite short, that I am extremely attracted to tall women. I have dated a woman who was almost a foot taller than me and I loved it.

But to the second part of your post, yeah, treating people abusively and disrespectfully can make even the most physically beautiful woman very ugly.

The other side of that coin is that many men will assume that women who are taller than them will not like them, because tall women seem to pick men who are taller than them. Exceptions to that exist, but since it's a stereotype that you never really know if a man has or not, I suggest that you do your part to break it by being forward with men that you are very interested in.
