  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

A lot of men feel like they are just a pay check to their wives.

And a lot of wives feel like a pay cheque is all their husbands contribute (or want to contribute).

Neither situation is ideal, but I suspect the answer lies in "doing life" more closely together.

According to Miranda Kerr: Women "Need to Make a Little Effort" When It Comes to Pleasing Their Men

"My grandma taught me that men are visual and you need to make a little effort," the model said in an interview with The Edit. "So when [Evan] comes home, I make sure to have a nice dress on and the candles lit. We make time to have a nice dinner together." (read the full article on Harpar's Bazaar.)

For the purposes of discussion:

Do you agree? Why or Why not? And what constitutes "a little effort?" Who defines it?

What one says or does should be from the heart out of love and not expect anything in return.

1 Peter 4:8

Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.

Luke 6:31

And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.

Romans

Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.

Man is the head of the household, and hence, woman ought to submit to their husband.
However, in Christ, both men and women are equal before God.
Therefore, man ought to please his wife as much as his wife ought to please him.

Depends on what you mean by "pleasing their man". If you mean that the "little lady" should doll herself up because she's subservient to her man, then no. I don't believe in hierarchical marriage, period. Relationships of any kind require sacrifice on the parts of both parties, and a sturdy relationship is built on mutual respect and equality - not one member being "in authority" because they happen to have different equipment.

I'm sure there's a lot of women, that feel the same ways. When they are the ones making the money.

In my 62 years of life I have only heard of one woman who kept a man that did not work.

Where I live typically both work. Unless the women wants to keep her job. And have the man watch the baby or toddlers . But I known a few women complain about their husband or boyfriend not bring home a check.

Where I am, I'd say typically both parents work, but usually one is part-time or casual or the like. More and more I'm seeing dads happy and comfortable in the primary parent role.

The only time I've heard women complain about their men not working is when he's been a lazy so-and-so who hasn't been contributing in any other way either. If he's out of paid work, but he's looking after little ones, doing the school run, the housework, the shopping, the cooking, the life admin, the thoughtload... he's working!

And I think more and more, we realise that people's work is going to be in flux over their lifetime, and there will be seasons of unemployment for most people, (hopefully short seasons, but nonetheless), and that what's important is working as a team when things aren't ideal.

Yes I believe so. And I would add this:

"Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him." 2 Cor. 5:9

Same as seeking the kingdom of God first, as long our pleasing one another doesn't violate pleasing God, I say both women and men(particularly in the realm of marriage) should aim to please each other.
