CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

for me it is. but there is no doubt much advantage to being around souls that love God. imo, there has to be people on the outside. but sobernost is important. i'm not good with all the extroverted type stuff. I don't go and do stuff because I feel obligated to. I don't do things that make me feel very uncomfortable. and i often can't relate to how people worship God in churches. most of the time I can't say i am a christian like others are Christians because they end up believing all kinds of things that i don't. I can alienate myself by speaking freely in this place. I can't do that as much in a social setting. i often prefer keeping to myself towards God. and I want intimacy but I don't understand it enough really so i would rather not have half-way relationships. I don't feel myself able to be as intimate with other people as I can be with God.

Congregating with other believers on a regular basis under a structured format is clearly taught in the bible and practiced through church history.
Of course there are exceptions due to health issues or living in isolated areas and so forth.

Yes. There are those cases, and even then, sometimes church comes to them. Some congregations bring worship to nursing homes.

Encouraged is not mandated. We are the Church..it is who we are, not where we go. We are encouraged to "forsake Not" the gathering of ourselves together for edification, etc..but there is no mandate

Why do you think it is that all of the churches in the NT have names? I don't see where "Church" a person's identity. Do you see the church of "us" described anywhere in the pages of scripture?

If there wasn't already a christian community on Patmos, you can be sure that St John established one there in due time. It's what the Apostles did. Where ever God sent them they preached the Gospel, whether free or in chains made no difference.

it is the most terrible overview ever!
it's about a saint that has visions and gets taught some things by an angel like the prophets used to get taught. the main vision in that book is the vision he has of the church.
