  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If you are correct, there are thousands of people there. What do you make of them? Are they sheep? Are they goats? Are they victims???
Yes, yes, and yes ^_^

[bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] No that's horrible. :prayer: :bigeye:His god is money. Jesus was born in a stable where animals live, Jesus was a simple carpenter when He was an adult, Jesus did not live like a pharoh He lived a simple working class life. That man was so wrong in so many ways it's like where to begin. Any dog even one from a pound will protect it's family, that's what dogs do! It's crazy. The desciples didn't get rich with money teaching God's word, they got persecuted and lived off the land. No where in the Bible does it say a sign of God's favor is richness or money. That is crazy. Yes God blesses people but not in the way he's preaching. You don't serve God to get money like some kind of get rich quick scheme. I could barely stand to listen to that craziness.

I can't say that there is anything intrinsically wrong with having a $16,000 dog. It's not what I would choose to spend that kind of money on, but different people have different priorities. But, after watching about 5 minutes of the video, I think it is fair to say that the theology on the video is not, in any way, Christian. I once heard a pastor preaching about the Judean deportation to Babylon and how many Jews learned to worship Marduk (the Babylonian god) in the language of Yahweh. I think this video is an extreme modern example of the same phenomenon (i.e., worshiping money in the language of Jesus).

That very thing was said about women that don't vote for Hillary.

As a phrase it's been said about a lot of things. These two cases however have nothing in common and so I don't see the relevance it has here.

While I tend to agree, I must also believe that there are more than a couple of folks in the audience looking for their own pot of gold. That's what this teaching is all about, isn't it? Give me mine, and you will get yours. It seems to fuel greed.

Of that I have no doubt. There certainly are people in it for the glitz and glamour, and we have a responsibility to speak out against such toxic theology whenever and wherever it raises its head. But there are many who aren't interested in having a mansion, a Mercedes-Benz, or whatever, what they want is to no longer have cancer, or to be able to walk again, or to climb out of insufferable financial debt. For these we the Church should have the deepest compassion, and it is for these people that we bear the responsibility of speaking out against criminals pretending to be preachers of the Gospel.

Is this what Christians should strive for? In his words, the world will stand up and take notice if we are rich and flaunt it. Is he right? Doesn't God make His people rich? Isn't that the sign of His blessing?

Scripture frequently warns us against being recognized by the world, the one place I can think of where it is considered a positive for the world to take notice of us is in our good works, "that they may praise your Father in heaven", we are called to be outstanding in mercy, outstanding in love, outstanding in generosity--"they will know that you are My disciples by the love you have for one another".

The riches of this world are nothing more than kindling in an age which is prepared for the fire of God's judgment. What will endure is not our status, our monetary worth, or any of our present "glory", all that will endure the fire is what we have in Christ, all else will be consumed like chaff.

How does the New Testament either back this or condemn it?

*Please don't comment unless you've watched the video.
I wonder how many times money was mentioned in that video. compared to Jesus/God. I thought I was watching a comedy sketch ehehe

He appears to be the black version of this character, B. Hinn:

James 5:3
The gold and the silver of ye corrodes, and the venom of them into a testimony to ye shall be,
and it shall be eating the fleshes of ye as fire.

Ye hoard in Last Days!

Benny Hinn Asks Followers for $2.5 Million to Get Out of Debt

.. ...... ..... ....

Benny Hinn: Israeli televangelist,Toufik Benedictus “Benny” Hinn has an estimated net worth of $42 million. He is best known for his regular “Miracle Crusades” – revival meeting/faith healing summits that are usually held in large stadiums in major cities, which are later broadcast worldwide on his television program, “This Is Your Day”..............................

Not into 'prosperity' ministries, because frankly, I feel they are frauds. Jesus was a rather simple, modest man. And His message can't be bought with money. I watched the video, and yea...to each their own, but that message wasn't about Jesus...it was about the world.

This video was a painful 9 mins and some seconds to get through.
I got a good chuckle out of it. The man has definitely charisma....He needs to get into an acting career....... LOL

After watching the beginning of another video (below), it seems as though the people in attendance are not so much victims of a con, but they are apparently offering their money up with greed as their motivation. I come to that conclusion because they are reciting, "Money cometh to me now!". They believe that if they give $100 they'll get $1,000, and they seem willing participants in this.

Taken at face value, this seems nothing less than the worship of money. It's overt idolatry, is it not?

2 Timothy 4:3-4 in a nutshell.

I refuse to judge a minister/pastor, but the Bible gives us an obligation to discern what they're teaching. Someone who's boasting is exalting himself above Christ, and that's why I don't listen to people like that. I'm not going to judge them and slander them, though, so I'll just leave it at that.
Good words

The deeper question is, if you are selling $16,000 dog, would you sell it at the same price tag to Jesus or a prophet??

No, you'll probably give it away for free to Christ!

Because someone sold $16,000 to that pastor, it can only mean one thing, that pastor is worth nothing but his money and as we know, money is only temporary, not eternal! ;)

I didn't watch the video but:
What should Christians strive for?
To be as Christ is in the world.
Does God make His people rich?
Sometimes, sure, why not?
Is it a sign of blessing?
Seems like it is in this instance, The blessing of Abraham:
Gen 24
And the LORD hath blessed my master greatly;
and he is become great: and he hath given him flocks,
and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants,
and maidservants, and camels, and asses.

Lot and Abraham had so much that the land couldn't hold them both.
And it was a blessing from God.

This seems to tie it in with Covenant...
Deut 8:18
But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God:
for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth,

that he may establish his covenant which he sware
unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

But the most important reason for the blessing of God is:
Gal 3
He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham
might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, '
so that by faith we might receive
the promise of the Spirit.

1 John 2:16-17

For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

who put the price on the dog?

Jesus might pay $16,000 to ransom a dog from an abusive owner; he would not own a $16,000 dog and boast about it as proof of His divine credentials.
His credentials are much greater than that.

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,the world, and all who live in it - Ps 24

God created a dog someone thought would be worth $16,000.00.
Dog 'breeds' are man made and man puts the price on it.

If the Lord had a dog, he probably 'rescued' it from the pound ;)
Yes, our Lord is compassionate.

Jesus made the $16,000 dog and the one in the dog pound.
See above

Jesus was poor, he didn't even own a home. He taught his disciples to give away their possessions if they had excess.

I highly doubt that he would encourage owning an expensive dog.
I agree he would not consider what man considers 'expensive' yet the Lord is God so this applies to him as well.

Ps 50 10 "For every beast of the forest is Mine, The cattle on a thousand hills. 11"I know every bird of the mountains, And everything that moves in the field is Mine.…

It all belongs to him what is the price tag of that?
