So is Tim la Haye, John Hagee, and a raft of other false teachers!
Some, like NT Wright do have good things to say, but their ideas about Bible prophecy up until now, are all wrong.
The KJV, dearly beloved by most; doesn't.
But anyway Hebrews 8:6 is referring to how Jesus is now our Mediator of the New Covenant, NOT that the NC was in force from His death.
Why don't you answer; When was the new Covenant actually made between Jesus and the Christian peoples?
What does the Cross mean to you, if not God's forgiveness of sin? It's more than just the possibility to forgive. Remember John's announcement of Jesus?
John 1:29
Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
“Seventy weeks are decreed about your people and your holy city,John quoted directly from Daniel. He understood.
to ... put an end to sin ..." (Daniel 9:24)
When was the new Covenant actually made between Jesus and the Christian peoples?
Enough foolishness! In no way are we in any Covenant now. When he said, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you." (Luke 22:20)
For the life of me Keras, I cannot see why you do not understand this.
OK, I don't need to wear glasses, but I do need good light to read my small print KJV.You need an eye examination ASAP.
Hebrews 8 KJV
But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
'now' is there, but it isn't in my REB or the CJB.
And for sure, it doesn't mean the New Covenant was immediately in force at the Crucifixion.
With Communion, we celebrate how Jesus died for our sins.
Who did Jesus make the NC with; was it the thief on the cross? And for sure, the writer of Hebrews declares unequivocally that it was.
Who did Jesus make the NC with; was it the thief on the cross?
What do you think Jesus was referring to here:Do you understand that the Christian Church did not exist the day Jesus was Crucified?
It started 50 days later, Acts 2:1-47. But there is no mention there of any Covenant.
Unless you can show when a new Covenant was made between Jesus and the Christian peoples; it remains to be made in the future.
What specifically makes that belief untenable? We actually can sin as much as we like......I'm not sure why anyone would deliberately sin.....but what's getting in their way? Remember Paul's explanation of all this? But if pardon for any sin was immediate, then we could sin as much as we liked!
The belief it applies now, is simply untenable.
Exactly. I agree! The whole ministry of Jesus testifies to an upending of Jewish life. There's a reason that Jesus and His teaching enraged the religious leaders of His day. It seems that many Christians today miss just how earth shattering this time was - when Jesus walked this earth. When he said, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you." (Luke 22:20)
For the life of me Keras, I cannot see why you do not understand this.
Take a look at John's Gospel....chapter 7, when Jesus was at the Feast of Tabernacles. Jesus is making reference to both Isaiah 55 and Ezekiel 47 in what He shouted out. The invitation is extended to ALL.Those that accept Jesus's invitation are who He is in covenant with (the New Covenant/everlasting covenant/covenant of grace).Who did Jesus make the NC with
Back to John 7:37-39 and Jesus's references to Isaiah 55 and Ezekiel 47Enough foolishness! In no way are we in any Covenant now.
It is clear to me, a Covenant is an agreement made between two living parties or individuals.Maybe it's not clear what is meant by God’s covenants?
Yes.....that's generally what a covenant is,It is clear to me, a Covenant is an agreement made between two living parties or individuals.
Peace and security comes from learning our sins are forgiven. It all goes back to the Cross. But a Covenant of peace and security? Not yet, my friends.
You may have peace and security, I have it too, but many many of our Christian brethren don't.Peace and security comes from learning our sins are forgiven. It all goes back to the Cross.
