7 Visions of Revelation

In order to understand the Book of Revelation, the reader must recognize that it contains 7 parallel visions covering the same time period but with a different perspective and new information. This parallel reading is essential and the only logical reading as it harmonizes the various harvest/rapture scenes as well as judgements.

The book is divided into 9 sections as follows:

Introduction) Chapters 1,2, and 3. The 7 letters are the key to understanding the structure of the visions.

7 visions:

1) 4 - 8:1
2) 8:2 - 11
3) 12 - 14
4) 15, 16
5) 17, 18
6) 19
7) 20

Epilogue) 21, 22. These are a final vision of Heaven after judgement.

Using this method you can understand why Jesus describes the sixth seal, then the Second Coming as the end, but Revelation continues after the sixth seal in Chapter 7: this is because 8:2 begins a new vision covering the same time period from a different POV. Then Chapter 12 begins a new vision again, only this time looking at the Church history--the woman.

It is imperative to understand that when a new vision begins it goes back to the beginning of the time period.

The time period in question is the time between two Advents, approximately 2000 years. This is the Church or Gospel Age, and it is symbolized by the numbers 42, 1260, 3 1/2, or "time, times, and half a time". All of these numbers mean the same thing: the entire time between Jesus' first coming and His second.

All of these numbers are half of 7. If 3 1/2 represents the "second half" of the human era, then 7 represents the full human era--similar to the "week" of creation.

What you have is: 3 1/2-Jesus Christ-3 1/2. This is similar to our current designation of : B.C.-Jesus Christ-A.D., and it is mirrored again in Daniel's 70th week as 3 1/2-crucifixion-3 1/2.

You will notice that 1260 is used twice in the context of the Church, and 42 is used twice in the context of the Beast or persecution. Same, but different.

The implications of this are profound:

1) The tribulation is approximately 2000 years long, ongoing now. This makes much more sense considering the church history and even what happens in many countries today; it is also in harmony with Matthew 24 and the understanding that Revelation was written for all Christians at all times.

2) There is no 7 year period known as "The Great Tribulation."
3) There is no pre-tribulation rapture.
4) Satan will not be released 1000 years after His Second Coming. Satan is already deceiving the nations; this is irrefutable
5) The "little" beast, the false prophet, and the harlot are all the same entity: the apostate church.

Scriptural support for a parallel reading? Yes: Genesis 41, Pharoah's dreams are one.

Test this view, then accept its simplicity; all other readings wither and weep under the shadow of its logic.

More to follow, I suspect.

i can agree with a lot of what you wrote,
except i believe Satan is;
in heaven today,
soon to be cast here in his own angelic body,
will pretend to be Christ returned and fool the world,
will be bound at Christ's Coming and bound for 1000 years.

Revelation 12 makes it clear that the devil was cast down to earth at some point after Jesus was crucified and brought up to God's throne. He then persecuted the woman's offspring (church) for a "time, times, and half a time", or the tribulation.

The 1000 year Reign of Jesus Christ began at His resurrection, as did the 1000 year binding of the devil. He is the King of Kings, and this is irrefutable

"1000" years is not literal in either case, they are both indicative of a really long time.

I believe we are now in the midst of his being "loosed"--or, the limitations being removed, and that this loosing coincides with the ten horns turning of the harlot for "one hour" as well as the two witnesses lying in the streets--meaning that the church will be effectively dead for a short time. This is speculation.

In other words, persecution is coming.

Rev. 7:1 starts a new vision.

....after these things...

This information is not from the sealed book.

Rev. 18:1 starts another vision, and so does 19:1.

18:1
And after these things...

19:1 is the last vision in Revelation.

And after these things.....

Ch. 7 - 8:1 is an expository shift to the redemption of the saints. Chapters 6 through 8:1 are a unified contextual vision from the first Advent of Jesus to the final judgement.

Chapters 17 and 18 are unified also: The vision begins with the Harlot throughout the tribulation, then her destruction.

19 is not the final vision; 19 shows the judgement of the beast.

20 is another vision of the judgement of Satan.

-17,18: judgement/destruction of harlot
-19: judgement of beast
-20: judgement of Satan

Defining the visions by literary technique is not as productive as by content.

not "was" cast to earth, but "will be" in the future.
the tribulation is still future to us.

Rev. 12:1 starts telling about a sign, not a step by step vision.
Then adds in another sign. The two signs interact.
Then the signs part is over and John sees war in heaven.
The woman will not flee to her place for the 42 months, till she gets her wings.

12 - 14 are a unified vision of the church history beginning with the ascention of the Messiah. Thus begins the church and its persecution by the dragon for 42 months/2000 years.

Chapter 13 cuts to a close-up of the tribulation showing how the dragon persecutes the saints, via the agency of the beast.

14 describes the redemption of the saints.

12 - 14 are a complete narrative of the church, with beginning, middle and end.

Hello to you too, Virgilio,

Satan isn't anywhere permanently until Chapter 20. I'm not sure what you're disagreeing with.

Virgilio,

I take it your contention is with the definition of being "cast down". I don't think it would be productive to parse the meaning of this symbol except to say that Satan is limited in some way as I've indicated in a previous post somewhere. And I think this limitation coincides with the protection of the woman in the wilderness.

And at some point in the near future, this limitation will be removed.

Hello Warduck,
I'm not arguing about your view in prophesied event but just clarifying that Satan were already here on earth but not stay permanently as he move on from up and down the earth. Proof that he was here is Matthew 4:10Then says Jesus to him, Get thee away, Satan, for it is written, Thou shalt do homage to [the] Lord thy God, and him alone shalt thou serve.

Thanks and God bless.

Hi Warduck,
If Satan is limited somewhere else how could he goes together with the sons of God in Job 1: 6-7 And there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before LORD; and Satan came also among them.

7 And LORD said to Satan, Whence comest thou? And Satan answered LORD and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

Thanks and God bless.

Because the casting down of Satan happens just after the Crucifixion as indicated in Chapter 12.

Hi Warducks,
If casting down of Satan happens just after Jesus Crucifixion , how could Satan tempted Jesus in wilderness Matthew 4:1-10 Then says Jesus to him, Get thee away, Satan, for it is written, Thou shalt do homage to [the] Lord thy God, and him alone shalt thou serve.

Thanks and God bless.

I have to disagree for the reasons already stated. The only cogent rendering of the text demands a 2000 year tribulation and is in harmony with Matthew 24.
hello,
i have to disagree with you.
I do not believe that Mat24's specific end time is 2000 years long.
i think the labour pains are, but not the specific time of testing.
i think "this generation" refers to the last generation, those who will see all those things fulfilled.

but hey, i'm a futurist ;)

hi. I don't understand your objection Bro?
Satan is in heaven accusing the bretheren today.
Satan will be cast out of heaven and down to earth.
and then woe to us on earth.
that begins the time/times/half a time, he is wroth
and persecutes the descendants of israel
who both hold the commandments AND have the testimony of Jesus.

Satan usded to be able to walk to and fro on the earth...
but since his failed temptation of Jesus, when Jesus said.."get behind me/get thee hence" we don't read of him physically here...
he can seduce and deceive and even possess folks on earth, from heaven, but he is not here today but by his spirit.

but when he is cast out of heaven, he will be here in his own supernatural angelic body,
and it is with that body, that he fools the world.
