I don't know the details of the documents used on CBS's "60 Minutes" segment a few days ago, as much as I know the story about the story. Whether CBS and Rather obtained valid documents or not, has dwarfed the original "60 Minutes" story. Instead of resurrecting an old hit-piece on Bush, (circa the 2000 election), and getting away with it, Rather and CBS find themselves on the hot seat, on the defensive....on something they never thought would have these consequences....ie, the public paying much more attention to the story about the story. The spot lights are facing them now.
As we all know, Dan Rather is a huge Democratic Party contributor. And there's nothing wrong with that. I'm just a little disappointed that he chose to resort to this type of story. I guess I gave him more credit than he deserved.
They rolled the dice - and the plan backfired on them. It happens.
