  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I spent my weekend in the hospital because I was having major back pain and spotting. My doctor told me that I am 50% effaced...he said that it is okay as long as I stay only 50%. Does anyone here know what my chances are of carrying this baby full term? He gave me some medication for the contractions (Procardia) but I'm feeling an unbelievable amount of pressure. And I am not dialated at all. Anyone here have the same issue or know someone who has?

No I don't know what your chances are of carrying your baby full term, the best person who can answer that is your doctor (also you might get a few more responses if you post in the general parenting section, because not everyone on here has had a baby)

This is my 2nd pg (28 weeks), the first pg went to 42 weeks, so I had the opposite problem to you. ;)

I will reassure you though, that I know of a few babies that were born at around 31 weeks, and have survived, they did have to stay in the special care nursery for a few weeks though until they had put on enough weight. So if your baby decides he/she wants to come now, I am sure the chance of survival is pretty good.

I am the same as you, I have been getting some pretty strong BH contractions, and the other night, I had back pain too, but I don't know if that's anything to worry about at this stage. My BH come and go.

I have been getting BH contractions to..how ironic I asked the doc about them just this morning and he told me they were normal during this stage..as long as they were not like around ten min apart and not going away for awhile..I would really check with your doc. If it is normal for you at least your mind will be at ease. I have been reading my what to expect when your expecting book alot here lately and I was somewhat comforted to know that babies born after seven months have a high survival rate..of course we all pray for full term del. we dont always get to chose when our children come... if this is any help I was a month premature and my brother was two months and we are fine....It just depends whats in the good Lord's plan...Just talk to your OBGYN..if you have to pay a copay and can't go in..usually they have a nurse on call for the doc and mine is very good at answering my questions when I call..you can never be too safe when it comes to the health of your child...trust me I am full of questions every visit and never hesitate to call when something doesnt feel right to me...I will keep you in my prayers :prayer:

I was fully effaced and 3cm dialated at 34 weeks. I spent two weeks in bed and went in at 36 weeks 4.5 cm dialated and they still had to get my labor going by breaking my water. You could still make it to term or close to it and the more relaxed you are the better.

I know its sort of off subject but if your baby comes early breastfeeding is even more important than normal. Your body knows if your baby is early and makes preemie milk with more fat and antibodies in it and even looks different until about yur edd. It was that way with Sarah and I know 4 more people that have nursed preemies that said the same thing. It has a lot more fat and stays a golden yellow like the premilk or collustrum until term. It really shocked my mil she bf my dh and sil and she thought I jsut had a ton of colustrum b/c of the color but my milk was just made for my preemie.

Did your doctor tell you to be well hydrated? Please, especially in this weather, make sure you are well hydrated. Relax, try not to stress, and if you feel the need to rest, then rest. Take it one day at a time.
Also, procardia is what he gave you? Do you have a problem with high blood pressure?

Hey everyone! Well I'm still pregnant!! Thanks for all of your replies. My doctor was laughing because he seems to think now that he may need to induce me lol. I'm 38 weeks along now and still 50% effaced, and not dialated at all.
Catholic Christian ~ they did say that I was dehydrated and ever since I've been more conscious about drinking lots of water, I've felt soooo much better. And I haven't really had a problem with high blood pressure. I think maybe once or twice it was around 128/70 but usually it's great. Anyway, I'm so anxious for him to get here!! I cant wait to hold him in my arms!!

Well I'm told to walk as much as I can but then I'm told to keep my feet up because I'm swelling A LOT! So now I'm not sure which I should do lol. I just went to the doctor this morning and he said there has been no change :sigh: I know I still have 2 weeks left but I'm so tired!!! I went through a crying spell yesterday, all day, I could not stop crying. And the thing is, I have no reason to be upset!! I had no idea why I was crying. One this if for sure, this pregnancy is totally different than my first.

Aww I am so sorry bout the tears, I totally understand them. I am more worried this time, and more tearful.

2 weeks isn't so long when you look at how far you have come!

After all I am only half done, :( I envy you only having a couple weeks to go!

On the walking, walk if you can, and then put your feet up for the rest of the day, skip the laudry and such, getting the walking for baby is more important than clean laundry :).
