1. Abuse of power firing of a public safety commissioner for not firing a trooper over her sister's divorce. http://www.adn.com/monegan/story/478090.html

Are you worried that those devious Republicans are going to let this play out until October, letting the left run out rope with it's murky 'investigation' innuendo, and then drop the actual dirty details?

Because they are not all compassionate, like me. I don't want you to look like a total <statff edit> for cheering on poor "Mr. B-I-L Trooper."

The controversy now surrounding Ms. Palin stems from a messy divorce between state trooper Mike Wooten and his wife, Molly McCann, who is Ms. Palin's younger sister.

In 2005, Ms. Palin alleged to Mr. Wooten's supervisors that he had threatened to harm her sister and father and had engaged in numerous instances of misconduct, including using a stun gun on his 10-year-old stepson, according to state documents. In one instance, she told state investigators, she overheard him on the telephone threatening her sister: "I'm gonna <staff edit> shoot your dad. He's gonna get a lead bullet."

Mr. Wooten told investigators he tested a Taser stun gun on the boy at his request but never threatened the Palins. An internal police investigation substantiated the stun-gun incident and some other charges but threw out most of the rest. Mr. Wooten was suspended for five days in 2006. Through a spokesman with the Public Safety Employees Association, he declined to comment.

On July 11 of this year, Ms. Palin fired Department of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. Mr. Monegan then complained that she and her husband had pressured him to fire Mr. Wooten. Ms. Palin, in a statement, denied that, saying she had removed the commissioner she had appointed 18 months earlier because she wanted "a new direction."
I already know how this will play with the radical left, but let's see how this plays with the middle.

Gee. She insisted on firing an abusive state cop who a] tazered a 10 year old kid, the trooper claims, "at his request", and b] intimidated the same boy by telling him "I'm gonna <staff edit> shoot your dad. He's gonna get a lead bullet."

Gee. A Democrat is running the investigation in Alaska.

Gee. The real question is, why was the system protecting that piece of <staff edit>? That is where the investigation should be. Oh, but wait a minute: the 'investigation' is being run by a Democrat. Silly me.

Gee. The Governor is being accused of cleaning house, trying to take out the trash, and removing her appointment of someone who refused to take out the trash. This is exactly why she should be sent to DC.

Feel free to line up behind the 10 year old tazing, 'I'm gonna <staff edit> shoot your dad' poor trooper and his protector on this one. Personally, I'd want to apologize and take a shower after accidentally cheering all that on, but now that we know what she is 'hiding', we are free to all wonder how this will play in the middle when the GOP 'springs' this on us in October, after the weeks of detail-less drive-by alegations of mysterious Democratic 'investigations...'

When do we give her the medal?

[/quote]There seems to be a trend here. In fact HERE. I don't think we should be giving medals to people who use their Gov power to affect relationships that are close to them.....do you?

1] In general, even if as claimed a 10 year step-son child "requests" to be tazered, it's probably not a sign of good judgement to oblige him. And if he didn't request to be tazered, then it's an even worse idea. it best case, in general, the excuse "my child requested that I abuse him" is not accepted by sane folks. There is no upside in the admitted facts of the incidents.

2] In general, you probably don't want to let the governor of your state overhear you making death threats to either her sister or to any citizen of the state. Again, there does not seem to be much sympathy buying to be gained by that behaviour.

3] In general, the folks who would protect that kind of behaviour need to be removed from power.

4] If a politically motivated(as opposed to a get the scum out motivated)'investigation' crops up, complete with all kinds of lawyered up infractions in the face of her attempt to throw out self admitted scum, then it remains to be seen whether just plain folks are more judgmental of her actions and alledged infractions -- trumped up as 'abuse of power-- or those who were protecting those she appears to have been going after.

In the face of that, an 'abuse of power' would have been her doing nothing.

Is there even any proof that her ex-brother-in-law even did what Palin accuses him of? I haven't seen any. And now we get this..
Palin Investigation Stalled By McCain Campaign, State Legislator Says

Palin investigator is biased Democrat, says Alaska Republican

State Sen. Hollis French has politicized the investigation of the firing of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan, alleges GOP state Rep. John Coghill in calling for the Democrat's replacement.

I don't call this PROOF that her brother-in-law actually did what Palin 'alleges' he did!
This is not what I call PROOF,but for lovers of Bush's Patriot Act, I guess it's good enough!

Wooten served a five-day suspension after the Palins filed a complaint against him alleging he had threatened Palin's father. The Palins also accused
Wooten of using a Taser on his stepson, drinking in his patrol car and illegally shooting a moose.

What? You mean serving on the PTA doesn't make a person qualified to run the country?! ^_^

( America make me laugh)
No it doesnt - thats why she was also a city councilperson , then mayor, then governor and head of the national guard. All those things do give experience and she didnt spend the last 18 months of her career campaining - she actually served. Obama sadly has spent most of his saying present and not even voting and campaining and writing books and speeches.

I guess they want video footage of the alleged incidents, too.

An account saying (from an actual 'known' new-source) that he did in fact admit it would be fine. I have done searches and have not come up with a single one that anyone has ever heard of.

Straight from the guy's mouth:

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/05/palin.trooper/index.html

It was an incredibly stupid and irresponsible thing to do, and he does acknowledge that so I give him credit for that. As to the other accusations...it's a "he said, she said" matter.

Ok I appreciate that link, thanks. The guy sounds like he was a jerk, but as the interviewer on the video points out,his record is not the issue here, the issue is if Sarah Palin abused her Office.
I for one am sick of seeing such things by those in power, favors to friends/cronies,revenge,possibly even murders of those who know too much or get on the wrong side of powerful people(the most recent, the Washington madam and the Fed's Anthrax Army Scientist, and scores of others) so I am all for such people being held accountable, regardless of which political party they belong to.

She has no experience with the National Guard. She became Gov in 2006, guess where her National Guard was in 2006? It rhymes with Iraq.
