I wish it wasn't so. I wish there was another way to look at it.

When Danny told Walt these things in 2003, Roger Clem had already come forward in West Frankfort, claiming to have been victimized by Tommy in 1988. Certainly Danny must have known about these new allegations against his brother.

3ABN attorney Mike Riva sent the threatening letter posted at http://www.save3abn.com/mike-riva-to-glenn-dryden-june-2003.htm to Pastor Glenn Dryden in order to shut him up. That letter, sent on behalf of Tommy, uses as a legal basis for its threat to sue the idea that "Even if the actions occurred, there is no criminal jeopardy as the statute of limitations has long since passed."

That is really odd reasoning for an attorney who does work for ministry claiming to support the Seventh-day Adventist Church to send a pastor of another faith. Most Adventists would find that utterly deplorable.

There have been an awful lot of prayers said over the last many months.

But it is encouraging to see God's providence at work. Quite a few times He has worked in a marked manner, bringing these particular matters toward resolution. Praise His name!

It has been the same over and over again throughout the centuries. Whenever a crisis has arisen in God's cause, He has worked to bring about resolution in such a way that He alone is glorified. Not that we always see it that way, but it is there.

Rather than arguing with others about the faults that you find with certain people, your time would be better spent praying for them.

Moreover, it would do you well to search your own heart to make sure you don't have a beam in your eye, while trying to take the sliver out of the eye of someone else.

It is evident to God what is happening. He doesn't need you or anyone else to make the sins of others known to Him. And as for making them known to His church, that is something that ought to be done according to Christ's standard for discipline, which can be found in Matthew 18. It is not something that should be addressed in a public domain for all to see--both churched and unchurched people. This kind of behavior will only serve to hinder the work of God, and thus advance the hatefulness of the evil one.

It is important to remember that both Linda and Danny are real people with feelings. If we are to help them it won't be by publicly disgracing them, but by interceding for them in private.

Intercessory prayer is God's means to teach us what it means to love each other; but Gossip is the devil's counterfeit for intercessory prayer.

Each one has an end result. Choose wisely.

For those reading this thread, you will note that suddenly out of nowhere brand new members have popped up and have started posting. There is a concerted effort by a few people to distract and defend Danny Shelton, Tommy Shelton, and the rest at all costs. Sometimes these posters are Shelton family members.

did was not so bad.

In the one case he elaborates on, he states emphatically that a teacher had an affair with someone who was not a child, but then says that the parents found out and pressed charges.

It is a simple fact that if Danny and Tommy's defenders would just keep quiet, there would be a lot less being said.

Tommy is not a Seventh-day Adventist. He was a pastor in the Church of God (Anderson) (and related groups) when the alleged events took place. I assure you that members of the Church of God are no more condone child molestation than do Adventists.

Jim I personally don't think you care about what happened to Linda or the truth. I think you just care about you own personal needs. You keep appealing to you own personal blessings you revcieve from 3abn. You don't want ot mess that up. Your unwillingness to even consider that Danny my be guilty is troubling. The Evidence is against Him. How danny explains how adultery occurred when linda and the Dr. were on 2 different continents is beyond me. that is a major blow to him. Now to icedragon's response. I think the long and short of all of this is that both sides think they are right. However, who is really behind all of this really? It's unconscionable ( most likely mispelled ) that someone with any modicum of character would push an issue like this knowing full well they were completely in the wrong but sometimes we can do things for the enemy and not even know it.
In the process of reading and analysing all of the accusations and the nature of them. Along with the apparent motives of those doing the slanderous postings. After really pondering and praying about all of this, what I have come to honestly believe is the only thing that stands out as actually being important is Tommy's alledged sexual crimes.

Divorces happen all the time in our church. I've never seen one where false accusations were't made and folks line up on separate sides doing exactly what we are doing here. This is all non-sense folks. The Shelton family laundry needs to stay in the hamper. Let the courts and the elders handle all of this. The only reason all of this is happening is because of 3ABN and the elevated profile of Danny and Linda. If this was the every day common brother and sister in our church, do you think a ton of posts would be posted on CF to spill out the sorted details of what happened or what he/she said that was or wasn't true etc.? Lets get realistic shall we? Let's examine the ultimate impact and outcome of what is going on here. Let's ask ourselves some questions.

1. What are the apparent motives of the attackers of Danny and Tommy Shelton here?

Since some have asked for supporters to withhold donations and nearly all of the post's impune Danny specifically and Tommy the over-all impact seems to me to be about bringing 3ABN down or severely damaging it. Even though the posters here deny this and in their hearts may not want that, the over-all impact is heading in that direction. Some times we need to step back and look at the big picture.

2. What are the apparent motives of the defender's of Danny and 3ABN?

So far most of the ones I have read have been about finding the real truth and not inflating hear-say evidence only . Ultimately this type of thing can only serve to possibly and falsely impune a man of God. Obviously, if the accusations against Tommy is correct he shouldn't be allowed around small children at 3ABN and he should be forced to register as a sex offender. Any clear thinking person should agree to this.

3. What has been the visible fruit of some of the attackers so far?

Spreading , in my opinion, ( with the exception of Tommy Shelton ) nothing more than mostly hear-say garbage about a marriage gone bad. This has been done by starting and maintaining more than one web-site where the character of a man and the workings of a ministry of God has been impuned.

4. What has been the visible fruit of 3ABN?

3ABN stands out as a becon of light spreading the undiluted gospel of Jesus Christ in the closing moments of earth's history. It would take many pages to list all of the good things 3ABN has done since it started. The main fruit to me is seldom do I watch this station for more than an hour that I don't feel blessed by being there. Seldom do I watch this station for any time at all when I don't learn of thousands world wide who come to
Christ because of what is going on there. Recently, I have a morman friend who told me she really enjoys watching 3ABN. The bottom line may be that they are not a non-profit organization, however, the spiritual bottom line is they are a 24/7 witness for Christ and the gospel. I'm still looking forward to hearing from Sophia on the substance of the report she got from them.

The New Years' tribute to Tommy occurred right as Duane Clem was deciding to come forward.

On January 24-26, right as a statement containing distortions and falsehoods was released and publicized, another alleged victim came forward, this one claiming to be 8 years old at the time.

Time will reveal another providence.

On May 6, 2004, Linda alerted Dr. Abrahamsen that since Danny was searching her car, she was going to give him something to find the next day. On April 21, 2004, Danny told Dr. Abrahamsen he would be happy to have him meet with the board and explain his side of things. the goal is not to bring Down 3ABn. It is to hold accountable a man who has dammaged, Linda, the church and God. this is the chruch being the chruch.
