No crocodiles here ma'am. We do have gar, ky-oats, and jackelopes though

Typically, it's all dry, yellow, and brittle. The two weeks of rain was very, very strange for us. It's made everything green. It's nice.

Oh, we have lots of coyotes over here near the mountains or out in the farmlands. I sort of live inbetween those two so I've never seen one out in our yard. Thank goodness!

I love when that happens! We haven't seen rain like that in 4 years though.

I went surfing this weekend (nothing new).. but something new DID happen! So I found this diagram online to show you...

hahaha. And thus.. my foot is swelled up and Im out of the water for a few.

I look fwd to your camp pics every year and somehow this year snuck up on me and not only that but you just said camp is almost over. What all have I missed???

well this is my first post since i left for orientation at the beginning of june; camp flies by, our camping season isnt very long at all. 6 camps spanning 7 weeks. so so so sad that its so short soon all of the staff will leave and we'll go from 90 to 12 almost overnight. sigh sigh sigh.

But that sculpture thing is....different. Look at the mouth where that "growth" looks like it's being chewed on...wow, but art though ~shrug~

So....(forgive my "I live nowhere near water" self)...the stinger is in the tail? Where on the foot/ankle did it sting you exactly?

haha. Thanks? Yeah, if you look at that first diagram thing I put up.. the stinger is on the top of their tail, and they whip their tail upwards to get you. It happend to get me on the top of my foot (the red spot in the middle of my right foot in the picture) It's actually more of a cut/hole in my foot now. Pretty deep too.

When I was in Panama City, we saw a stingray just offshore that had to be 6 or 7 feet long.

hah yes, it did sting. and hurt. and throb. and yeah.. not fun.

As for being a fan.. Im currently not that happy about them. Kind of mad at them. However, I do still appreciate that they are a pretty cool creature. I mean.. They are like underwater birds.. with a big spike on its tail! how cool is that?? hah.

Sorry, I deal with veins at work...I tend to notice them. I kind of thought that was the site you got stung at looking at it. I didn't realize they were in water shallow enough to walk in. Scary.

No worries.. I just thought it to be a funny compliment. Yeah, at the soft sand beaches in the warmer areas in southern CA, they like to hang in the shallows and bask in the warm water/sun. As surfers.. we have to walk out through the shallows to paddle out into the breaking waves. It's during this walking that we're the most susceptable to accidentally stepping on them, in which case they activate their defense mechanisms and stab us with their tail.

I hate to interfere in this conversation, but my friend went to California and said that one thing the water definitely was not is warm. I've been to the Med, which has a similar climate to California, and again, the water was freezing.
