I said:
"2. Those given eternal life WHEN they believe shall never perish."
No where found in scripture.
Sure is. Your denial changes nothing.
John 5:24 - “Very truly I tell you,
whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me
has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.
John 6:47 - Very truly I tell you,
the one who believes has eternal life.
1 John 5:11,13-
11 And this is the testimony:
God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
13 I write these things to
you who believe in the name of the Son of God
so that you may know that you have eternal life.
Jn 5:24, 6:47, and 1 Jn 5:13 are in the present tense, and that means eternal life is PRESENT POSSESSION for those who believe, and 1 Jn 5:11 is in the aorist tense, which indicates an action that has already occurred, just like our past tense.
So these verses PROVE that eternal life is a present possession of those who believe.
John 10:28 - I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.
This verse is clear; those given eternal life (which is believers per the above verses) shall never perish.
1 Pet 1:23 - For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.
Peter, unlike yourself, listened to and believed what Jesus said. While Jesus said those given eternal life shall never perish, Peter said believers have been born again of imperishable seed.
So, both were referring to the same thing. Once belief, shall never perish.
What hasn't been proven yet is that once salvation, CAN perish.
The claim is hollow.
When we believe we are joined to Him and are one spirit with Him through faith.
And that union with Christ is permanent, as indicated in Eph 1:13,14-
13 And
you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation.
When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,
14
who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.
Are you prepared to argue that God may not keep His guarantee of our inheritance until our redemption? That sure would be stupid.
We now are one spirit with the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus.
And it's permanent, as the above verses plainly say.
As long as we remain in Him, we remain joined to the eternal life that is found only in Him.
No scripture. Just unsubstantiated opinion, which is contary to God's Word.
If we become seperated from Him, we become seperated from the eternal life that is in Him, because we are no longer joined to Him.
No scripture again. Your opinions have no support from Scripture.
That is why a sheep who wanders from Him is called lost.
No, you're just desperate to mix parables and metaphors to try to prop up your opinions.
Even when a sheep is lost, the sheep still belongs to the shepherd, and you have not, because you cannot, prove otherwise.
Does a lost sheep become someone else's sheep? Use Scripture to prove it.
If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
John 15:6
No mention of hell, or the lake of fire. Just a brush fire. So what? Since the verses I've just provided again prove that our union with Christ is permanent, all you do by quoting John 15:6 is demonstrate your failure to properly divide the Word of Truth. That means you're not an approved workman, per 2 Tim 2:15.
You need more study. A lot more.
Is a believer who is cast into the fire and burned still saved?
Actually, there is no verse about a believer being cast into any fire and losing salvation.
And, that reminds me of a verse that DOES speak of a believer and fire:
1 Cor 3:14,15-
14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward.
15 If it is burned up, the builder
will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.
So, unapproved workman, please provide an explanation of the red words; how one can "suffer loss" though "through the flames" but "YET WILL BE SAVED".
again
“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. Luke 15:3-7
Your metaphors prove only that you are unable to rightly divide the Word of Truth. These verses aren't even about salvation.
Do the lost need salvation?
Do sheep need salvation? Do sheep have a soul? Can you answer these questions, that are derived from your argument?
