What are the names of the 12 tribes? It appears to me that in different places, different tribes are listed differently.

The way I have viewed revelation is the 2 houses of Israel warring against each other.Since Levi would serve the Lord as priests, he received no portion of the land and Josephs two sons Manasseh and Ephraim got Levi's and Joseph's portions. Sometimes Judah is mentioned but referrs to the southern kingdom and sometimes Israel is mentioned but refers to the northern kingdom. Also Ephraim is used to refer to the northern kingdom.
Also, Manasseh and Ephraim are sometimes used to replace one of the other tribes, the context will have to determine why this is done.
Maybe have a look at these posts:ATShavuot said:What are the names of the 12 tribes? It appears to me that in different places, different tribes are listed differently.
They were actually the 12 twelves of Israel with those 12 being split into 2 nations:daveleau said:The 12 Tribes of Judah are from the sons of Jacob and are listed in Genesis.
Gen 35:22-26
22 And it happened when Israel lived in that land, Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father's concubine. And Israel heard it. And the sons of Jacob were twelve:
23 The sons of Leah: Reuben, Jacob's first-born, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun.
24 The sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.
25 And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel's slave woman: Dan and Naphtali.
26 And the sons of Zilpah, Leah's slave woman: Gad and Asher. These were the sons of Jacob born to him in Padan-aram.

Interesting. If we look at the land division of Ezekiel, it shows Dan and Ephraim replacing the Levi and Joseph [from revelation]. I don't know what significance that has, but the fact that revelation does shows armies of the north attacking kingdoms of the south. There is so much scripture that appears to confirm revelation being the destruction of Jerusalem, especially since it shows God Himself putting it into the "10 kings" minds to attack the Harlot[chapt 17]. God bless.Ephraim, was a grandson of Jacob, and received the "firsborn" blessing of God instead of Reuben. Interesting connection firstborn, Ephraim, and Jesus has with the Church:
