I do not know a word of Russian, but I do attend a Russian/Ukrainian/Kazakh church occasionally. We have a lot of people here in my town who are from the former USSR and it's such a blessing to have made friends with some of them!!! Whenever I visit their church I just feel like their worship is so heartfelt.

It is a beautiful language,

Read Russian poetry, and then English

Its ridiculous when compared, I think its because our language is simply far more complex, and the thoughts we can express on paper are therefore much more articulate

English simply does not allow for meanings as deep and complex as Russian

Just my opinion, but then again, this can be compared by reading Pushkin, followed by any of the great English poets

But, Daniil! I honestly think Russian is beautiful :) My father is a poet - he'll tell you! :)

But I do agree though that these other languages flow more easily =)))) Romance languages live up to their name

God bless you!

I've lived in Italy and spoke a little Italian there. Lived in Germany too. I've heard Europeans have to learn English. I wonder if it is harder to learn English than learn any other language? I've watched Russian opera videos (which are great, I love Prince Igor) after a season of watching Verdi and Puccini operas.)

The language sounds really pretty and would be interesting to learn I think, since I've had some exposure to other languages.

He used to write a lot of poetry when he was in uni :) We have absolutely tons of paper (the old, yellow paper=) with his poetry. And for his birthday last year we published a book of his poetry. =))) It was really exciting.

Your father's a poet? Tell me more please!

God bless!
Julie

my daddy has Two books. and is still writing more (not in that great of a quanity as before though) he would just sit down at the computer and start typing. he keyed in all the books himself. The first one was self published. you know we just printed it off without any publisher. but the second book was published through a local russian christian publisher called "Ruth". so there ya go. i have alot of his poems on our family computer. He was actually writing ever since childhood.

i will be praying for you. good luck
