Wish the article showed the ''run for the hills'' people's religious beliefs. What is even more worrying is that the ''yes'' vote for the online poll is currently at 13%!!!!! Are lefties more gullible?

I think young people just like the idea that an ancient advanced civilisation predicted the end of the world, and vote that they do believe it for the fun of it...or at least i REALLY hope so.

Bit like if there was a poll asking if they thought Cthulhu was going to destroy the world. He's a big internet thing.

What the Mayan calendar actually tells us is they somehow knew about the axis of our solar system, how it compares to the axis of our galaxy,

and that they could measure the entire cycle of how these 2 interact, which takes some ridiculously long time like 50,000 years or more. The date in question is the EXACT time that these 2 will most closely align, which is still off by some 12 degrees or more. I find it extremely impressive! Even with the data, (how'd they get that?) how would they recognize this is an alignment, since it is not exact? And how could they even get to within 100 years of the date, let alone the right day??

Yet nothing about their predictions included an "end to the world." Merely a re-start of the cycle

Well if the mainstream christians are any thing like yourself then i would assume they would like revelations cut from the bible completely or they simply choose to ignore it as allegory. A view which i have heard often among decadent pm churches. Your also wrong in my view to think its only Australians most americans are far more accepting of prophecy than aUzzies ever will be often they tie it into conspiracy theories another subject that most AUzzis want nothing to do with except for Clive Palmer of cause & even then its a tycoon that comes up with it rather than some private researcher or indie journalist ah the irony of Ozz.

Anyway who cares what mainstream australian christians think they are the smallest minority in nation that is by far majority secularist in every facet of society of cause most secularists laugh at such thing they are mainly in love with the world in way i thought most christians were not.
However seems today there is no difference a christian is in love with the world as much as any secularist or atheist.
