I actually spoke to a guy in Australia. He's not pro or con guns, but says he doesn't understand why Americans compare themselves to other countries. We have completely different origins, pasts, histories, etc. He said we keep bringing up that one incident that forced the gov to ban guns, but they didn't really have many issues before that one event.

Not many had guns and gun crimes were already minimal. They didn't have a history or tradition or constitution that included guns and gun rights.

Of course people are defenders of their rights and their traditions.

Background checks need to be improved, since the shooter passed one in this case. It shouldn't be too much trouble to tie the background check to the number times police are called to person's house. Also, assault rifle sales should require a police interview in addition to a background check.

were done by boys and young men under a
psychiatrist's care and on medication. I think
that the psychiatrists and the pharmaceutical
industry are to blame.

Of the two, I'd rather be shot at. Not much of an escape route with a suicide bomb, unless it doesn't go off.

Safe zones are not safe. We must protect our schools. We must protect our children, just as we do our banks, politicians, and malls.
