  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

  1. In Practice

James 1:2-4, 12 ESV Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing… Blessed is the man who remains...
  2. The One Who Does

My passage of scripture for today is taken from Matthew 4, which is concerning the three temptations of Jesus by the devil in the wilderness. So, as I began to pray and to ask the Lord Jesus what he would want me to learn from this passage today, he brought to mind this scripture in 1 John 2...
  3. Part 2 - Mankind's Fall From Grace

Part 1, "In the Beginning: God's Perfect Creation," illustrated creation from the very beginning and concluded with a discussion on Satan's evil plot to destroy the Creator's perfect work. "The one who practices sin is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the very start. This is...

An Allegory A Practical Illustration of James 1* The Cast: Me/I – Jesus Christ, and to some extent his gospel messengers The Woman – the false church, man-made church, or individual lives The House – her stance, position, lifestyle, practices, mind and heart The Story Given to me by the Lord...
  5. What is temptation?

I have a hard time with understanding temptation. What is the difference between temptation and actually having something bad in your heart? For example, sometimes I am tempted to listen to secular music because some music reminds me of my childhood. If I think that way, but I do not act on it...

I feel like the worst person ever...

First off I'm unsure where to begin so this is probably going to be some kind of ramble. I've done the worst possible thing ever.. I knowingly backslid into addiction and sin. The worst thing was I was sure God had forgiven me for the last two years where I had committed the same sin. I was...

    I feel weak

I thought I was doing good and abstaining from certain sins. I know no one is perfect and we all sin. This week it's been so hard for me and I finally caved into a certain sin yesterday and today. It's stressing me out because it's been a long time since I have done these things. I am really...
  8. Led by the Spirit

Matthew 4:1-11 ESV Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.” But he...
  9. Clay Vessels

We read in 2 Corinthians 4:7: “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.” Basically, what this means is that God, by His grace, via our faith in Jesus Christ, has placed his Spirit and His Word within humans who are frail...

Feeling hopeless about finding a husband and resisting temptation

Hello everyone, I'm 22 and a little less than a year ago I ended a relationship with my exboyfriend because he was not a believer and I decided to follow Jesus. At that time, I was also sure that my future husband was somewhere out there. Well, about a year later I feel like everyone around...
  11. God answered my prayer and removed temptation, but now i feel heartbroken

I have been struggling with temptation and lust, with a coworker of mine. I prayed over it, but those prayers of "I know this is what I should pray about, but in my heart it's not what I want." And here I am now, with the temptation removed, but my heart aching. Asking for prayers of...
  12. Battles Of The Mind

My Enemies Trample Psalm 56:1-4 ESV Be gracious to me, O God, for man tramples on me; all day long an attacker oppresses me; my enemies trample on me all day long, for many attack me proudly. When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I...
  13. Faith Like A Child

Turn Like Children Matthew 18:1-4 ESV At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the...
  14. "But, I'm Only Human"

I've heard this poison preached by all sorts of people, including pastors and teachers alike. The issue isn't that your only human but looking for an excuse to willfully sin. Many look to justify their sins by claiming to not be perfect... Lets face it, were not. However when we know what it...
  15. Temptation to Stray

Envy and Pride Psalm 73:1-9 ESV Truly God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart. But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled, my steps had nearly slipped. For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. For they have no pangs until death...

Prayer for Me and (Soon to Be) Fiance

Two related prayer requests My girlfriend and I are both Christians, and we actively serve together in our church and community. We know that we want to get married, and I plan to propose in two weeks, but we are struggling to figure out when to get married. I graduate from college in December...
  17. How come I'm tempted into sinning even though I pray to God to help me?

Satan always nags me with temptations to sin. And I keep repeating that same sin. But even though I pray to God to help me not turn to it, I eventually fall apart. If God really was controlling my life and wanted me to not sin, then how come I still do it? And how do I prevent it?

I Need Help Whith My Struggle (I am New Here As Well)

Hello, all! I'm Caleb (or under this name so people I know in real life don't know my terrible issue), and I'm 18 years old! I was reading a thread on temptation here because I am having some struggle that I am seeking help with. So, I will go ahead and get into that. I have been raised in a...
  19. No Temptation

In 2014, I tried my hand at some short devotionals where I spoke them, and I put the words into a Power Point Presentation, and then made them into videos, and I posted them on YouTube. I had forgotten about them until I was going through some of my older writings today. So, I am going to share...
  20. Walk in Victory

We are saved from our sins, and given eternal life with God, not just so we can escape hell and have the promise of heaven as our eternal home. When we believe in Jesus Christ to be Lord and Savior of our lives, our new lives in Christ Jesus have only begun. He has so much he wants to do in and...
