  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How Do you Define Sola Fide (Faith Alone) and is it Biblical?

I believe Sola Fide (Faith Alone, or Justification by Faith Alone without works) only is accurate to say when we first come to the Faith. It is also accurate in the sense that is the foundation upon which we build, as well (For if a believer stumbles into a sin, they have God's grace not as a...

    Romans and Faith Alone

First of all, it is clear that the verses here are talking about real Christians who were justified: "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 5:1). "Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we...

    Sola Fide Question

Howdy! Even tho I know that Lutherans believe in Faith Alone and Catholics believe in Faith + Works, how come they sound similar when there is a discussion about those two? For example, Lutherans don't believe in Antinominalism so if they don't do works then they don't have faith. On the other...

Deliverance from False Thinking (My Pondering on Luther)

I was feeling incomplete without a sense of belonging and church liturgy ever since I came back to Christ after abandoning him for the lusts of my heart. When I came back, I had to address all the issues I had before I left, like my desire for liturgy and the belief in the Real Presence, for...

    Lutheranism and predestination

Hey there. As I understand it Lutherans believe in single predestination, that is, they believe that God has chosen people to be saved but hasn't chosen who's damned. They also believe that Jesus died for the sins of everyone, not just some people. How is it possible for those who are not...

    Lutheranism and free will

I am a Lutheran, but I have been very confused lately about Lutheran predestination. Lutherans believe that some people are predestined by God, and some aren't. Those who aren't do not necessarily go to hell. How are those that aren't predestined saved if they aren't predestined? They'd have to...

    Forms of Sola Fide

Hello, I just want to ask what are the forms of Sola Fidei? I want to know how many forms there are, and what their biblical and logical justifications are for each of them.

    Why faith alone?

Sola fide is the Latin shorthand for the Protestant claim that we are justified by faith alone. In this thread I want to hear why Protestants think we are justified by faith alone, but I am not interested in scriptural justifications. You might try to answer this question, "Why did God enact...

Potential error in interpretation of Sheep and Goats parable

I've been encountering what I believe is the most popular interpretation of the Sheep and Goats parable. This states that the Sheep are the believers and the Goats, the non-believers. I am convinced that this interpretation is incorrect. Here's my reasoning. In the parable, Christ has gathered...

    Anglo-Catholic Justification Question

I've never heard a 100 percent definitive answer about this. What do Anglo-Catholics teach about the Protestant doctrine of justification by faith alone?
