  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    On The Sacrament Of Confession

This sacrament has been of huge benefit to me. It has freed me from guilt, assisted me in bereavement following the death of my father, and delivered me from a lifelong irrational fear and hatred of hearses, among other spiritual benefits. There are two ways to do confession, the first being...

    Passover 2021

Passover 2021 begins Saturday, March 27, at sunset & ends Sunday, April 4, at nightfall Passover week: Christ triumphal entry is on Nisan 10, Christ is killed on Nisan 14, then 3 day's later He's is resurrected. Lev 23: (to shorten post I paraphrased vs 1-5) 1 the LORD spake to Moses & Aaron...

    Question about the Lord's Supper

I'm new to the LCMS church (not a member yet but been attending for a while) and I'm struggling to understand the concept that the act of taking communion forgives sins if we obtain salvation through faith, not works/actions. Coming from an Anglican background, I understand the concept of the...

    Means of Grace

How is the phrase "means of grace" understood in the Reformed tradition? I'm not a big fan of the phrase. In the strongest sense, I would say Jesus Christ is the Means of grace. So, I take it the word and sacrament are a means in some weaker sense? Are the word and sacrament understood in an...

How does God recognize a marriage if its not a sacred sacrament?

A hard question for Protestants and "Bible only Christians" to answer: If Marriage is considered Sacred and Blessed by God, then how does God recognize a marriage if its not a sacrament? A Sacrament is defined as channeling of Gods grace. Nowadays, court marriages are becoming more common. This...

    A Question

Christ is Risen! Greetings, my dear Orthodox brothers and sisters. I have a question for those of more experience in Our Faith. Some time ago, when discussing my conversion to Holy Orthodoxy with my parish priest and dear spiritual Father, I was asked whether or not I had been previously...

    [Blog post] Baptism of Blood

Hey all, it's been a while since I've had much internet presence. I had a tough semester and needed to cut back on forums like this one to get my work done. Now I'm on winter break though! I wrote a new essay/post for my blog, mostly just some thoughts about Baptism by Blood and why I believe it...

    Rise in Exorcisms in France

The rise of ‘freelance’ exorcists in France Apparently, there is an increased demand for exorcists in France. The Catholic Church is inundated with requests and is reticent to respond, so more and more freelance spiritualists are called upon. There are few official exorcists, but even these are...

Thoughts on Baptism in the face of death

A close friend died last weekend and I put some thoughts down on paper to help work through the grieving process. The Lutheran theology on baptism is almost the most wonderful thing - Holy Baptism itself being the top. Death, Water, and Praise I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. +Pax
