  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Lip Service is Not Enough to Save You

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And...

    Seek Good and Not Evil

I am reading in Amos 5. God’s people had fallen due to their idolatries and their other sins, and so God was giving them counsel to seek him, and that they would live. But they were not to seek other avenues to rescue them. They were to seek the Lord and live, lest the Lord bring judgment upon...

    Godly Grief or Worldly Grief?

“For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death. For see what earnestness this godly grief has produced in you, but also what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what punishment...

    We've Wronged No One

“Make room in your hearts for us. We have wronged no one, we have corrupted no one, we have taken advantage of no one. I do not say this to condemn you, for I said before that you are in our hearts, to die together and to live together. I am acting with great boldness toward you; I have great...

    In Our Own Defense

Summary Acts 20-26 The apostle Paul was being opposed by his own people, the Jews, who were plotting evil against him. And at one point he gave a defense of his ministry to the elders in Ephesus. Later on, when he was in Jerusalem, the Jews stirred up a crowd of people against Paul, and they...

Let God Create in You a Clean Heart

King David was a man of God, called of God to the service of the Lord, anointed by God as Israel’s king. But one day when he was walking on his roof top he saw a woman (Bathsheba) bathing, and he lusted after her. And then he had her brought to him, and he had sex with her. Then she became...

Plans for Welfare and Not for Evil

The people of God were under the judgment of God for a period of 70 years. So, the Lord was giving them specific instructions for them only. For they had false prophets lying to them about the 70 years, and so the Lord was correcting those errors. And then the Lord told them that when the 70...

Let Them See Your Zeal for Your People

Isaiah 26:9-11 ESV “My soul yearns for you in the night; my spirit within me earnestly seeks you. For when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. If favor is shown to the wicked, he does not learn righteousness; in the land of uprightness...

Lifting the veil on repentance after salvation

Lifting the veil on repentance after salvation Since man preferred his own will to that of God, he has entered into a course of suffering which, by all logic, should be eternal. Certainly by our own desire, we have created this spiritual barrier between God and us. Indeed, by trying as best we...

    Wisdom is Justified

Luke 7:24-27 ESV “When John's messengers had gone, Jesus began to speak to the crowds concerning John: ‘What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? What then did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Behold, those who are dressed in splendid clothing...

    A Doer Who Acts

James 1:19-25 ESV “Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is...

    I Cling to His Testimonies

Psalms 119:25-32 ESV “My soul clings to the dust; give me life according to your word! When I told of my ways, you answered me; teach me your statutes! Make me understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate on your wondrous works. My soul melts away for sorrow...

    You Who are Spiritual

Galatians 6:1 ESV “Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Not Wanting Anyone to Perish

2 Peter 3:9 NIV “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” In context, this is speaking of the prophecies of Scripture regarding these last days and the return of...

    Let Your Repentance Be Genuine

Psalms 51:1-2 ESV “Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin!” This is a psalm of David, a confession of his sin against the Lord when he...

    Uncertainty around deliberate sin

I have posted about something similar to this before, but just feel really drawn to seek advice around this so thought I would just share. I am a bit confused as to how to feel about something... Last Friday I went to bed later than I knew I should have at the time. I could have set my alarm...

    In Theory, Not in Practice

    Blending Truth and Lies

I read a lengthy meme on social media yesterday that describes the false message of the gospel which is widely being spread throughout the church here in America. Now, it has an element of truth to it, for deception often blends truth and lies together in order to deceive people. So it isn’t all...

    When They Heard This

Many signs and wonders were regularly being done among the people by the hands of the apostles. And more than ever believers were added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women. The people also gathered from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those afflicted with unclean...
