  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Religious Liberty, Individual liberty, -- preserves purity of doctrine

Some groups claim they are against religious liberty . One of those that appears to me to oppose religious liberty (as seen on this board board) is the Catholic church (and a few others). It appears to me that they are arguing that religious liberty would result in a lot of confusing doctrines...

Mark of the Beast - the core issue is Religious Liberty

Almost everyone on this board would agree with something like "I choose to keep such and such a day holy to God ... other people make different choices and that is fine with me. They should be allowed to choose as they wish". so say we all. I am one of several people on this board that is...

SDA denomination predicts weakening of first amendment in the future

As early as the 1860's Adventists were predicting a future crisis where America would downgrade the first admendment when it comes to protecting religious liberty. Speaking of our republican form of government (as a republic) " Republicanism and Protestantism became the fundamental principles...

In a world of doctrinal error - Religious Liberty is the only thing that works.

The Bible talks about not judging others (Matt 7) and we all know that it is easier to see a fault in someone else than to see a fault in yourself. That principle has implications for governing nations and for laws protecting religion. ======================== In America the assumption in our...

Trump is another Constantine the Great?

At first, I was thinking Trump was like a John the Baptist figure. Indeed he is a fiery preacher from the wilderness. But he is from the political wilderness, a political preacher... not a holy man like John the Baptist. That does not fit. However, based upon Trump's Christian friendly...

    Separation of church and state

The founding fathers voted to pay a pastor/Chaplin out of U.S. tax dollars to speak to / lead out in prayer in congress. But they strongly opposed having the church run the state the way it did in the dark ages -- so they setup structures for separation of church and state. but that was never a...

In the future there will be religious intolerance and thought-police?

Seventh-day Adventists (SDAs) clearly present a view of the future that includes the prediction that even Christians will become "intolerant" of other Christian views to the point of "Thought police" tactics against even other Christians who do not share their views on a particular point of...

Thought-police tactics today and in the future

SDAs clearly present a view of the future that includes the prediction that even Christians will become "intolerant" of other Christian views to the point of "Thought police" tactics against even other Christians who do not share their views. But what about today? Are there areas of Christian...
