  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    A Stronger Attraction than Sin

Here’s an interesting analogy that can help us understand how experiencing more of God’s love and growing more in love with God helps us to resist the pull of sinful attractions. All objects in the universe attract each other by gravity. The bigger the object, the more the pull of its gravity...

    Your Voice Matters.

Your Voice Matters. There is nothing more important than for the Body of Christ to be involved in the Kingdom’s business. The business of Salvation! Now. I am not only talking about saving the sinner but also in the business of everyday life. My life, yours and that of the worlds. For as...

    His Loving Kindness

Tuesday, July 18, 2017, 3:44 a.m. – The Lord Jesus put in mind the song “Jesus, I Am Resting, Resting.” Speak, Lord, your words to my heart. I read various scriptures (NASB) on the subject of God’s lovingkindness towards us. Rich in Mercy (Eph. 2:1-10) And you were dead in your trespasses and...

    Live for Him

Sunday, July 16, 2017, 5:22 a.m. – The Lord Jesus put in mind the song “Your Grace Divine.” Speak, Lord, your words to my heart. I read various scriptures (in the NASB) on the subject of living for Jesus. Dead to Sin; Alive to God (Ro. 8:12-14; cf. 1 Pet. 2:24; Gal. 2:20) So then, brethren, we...

I arranged a solo guitar version of Amazing Grace for my church, I hope it lifts you up!

I play piano and guitar at a small Southern Baptist church in Fairdale, KY called Cove Baptist. Stylistically the arrangement blends old-time and country with Appalachian music that can be found in the rural south USA. My hope is the music gives you peace during your devotional. God Bless

    Christian requirements

This could be posted here or in the sub forum "sabbath and the Law." I do not think Christians required to keep the law meaning the old covenant. Christians are under a much different order for their life. For instance a Christian is said to have fruit in Gal 5:22-23. I maintain that fruit...

All grace gospel and Hebrews 12:5,6

So I'm fairly entrenched in the grace gospel camp (a step removed from full on universalism). I'm struggling to understand Hebrews 12:5,6 in light of grace: “And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says, “My son, do not...

    As Darkness Falls.

It should not be surprising to what’s happening in the world, and even though we know these things must happen; many may find it hard to make sense of the rapid changes occurring and that as Christians we face. It has come as a shock for some in the church and maybe there is a feeling of...

    Love and Obey

Tuesday, July 4, 2017, 6:00 a.m. – The Lord Jesus put in mind the song “My Sheep.” Speak, Lord, your words to my heart. I read various scriptures (in the NIV) on the subject of obedience. Jesus Saves Us (Acts 5:32; Hebrews 5:9; John 8:51) “We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy...

    Is time too short?

Today I spent the time thinking that if I were to die today heaven would not be the place where I am going. Although Christ is who I profess as lord and I believe God raised him from the dead. I'm living in darkness (in my sin.) I'm so stubborn I don't want to give up my pleasurable youthful...

    The Prodigal Daughter

The Prodigal Daughter Once, the land had sense of brilliance, the Province flourished, and the King wisely and supremely ruled. His daughter frolicked in her beauty, danced in her freedom, and lauded in her Father's embrace. The palace halls rang from the bells of her tambourine...

My Views on Calvinism and Arminianism (From a 'Neitherist.')

This is not meant to be a point of debate. I am just putting forth a hypothesis. This is not the Word of God. I am neither a Calvinist nor an Arminian, but embrace both soteriological standpoints in a paradoxical way. The Bible teaches both, I believe. I was wondering... since God is beyond...

    Are We Slaves?

Monday, June 26, 2017, 2:02 a.m. – The Lord Jesus put in mind the song “Your Grace Divine.” Speak, Lord, your words to my heart. I read Romans 6 (ESV). Died with Christ (vv. 1-11) What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin...

    How Much is Enough?

Hi everyone. I'll try to keep this brief to avoid the "wall of text" syndrome. Still, this is from the heart... My late dad was almost the stereotypical "puritan work ethic" sort. He almost didn't believe in God's grace, actually. The whole "saved by grace but kept by works" kind of thing. He...

    Grace and Truth

Most people are either “grace people” or “truth people”. “Grace people” find it relatively easy to overlook faults and errors in others, to be patient and kind, and to be gentle. They tend to struggle if a situation calls for confrontation, correction, or bold proclamation. “Truth people”...
