  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Is it unforgivable

I was very worried about the unpardonable sin. So much so that I think I may have accidentally blasphemed the Holy Spirit while I was asleep. I was tormented with fear and intrusive thoughts. Then when I woke up I heard what would definitely be considered blasphemy against the Holy Spirit and I...

Used and Betrayed . . . Now what?

I recently had a Christian friend ask to come over and do some work at my house as her internet was out. While she was in my home, she told me that she was feeling unwell but that it was from something that she ate and her allergies. Later that day she called me to tell me that her family, whom...

  9. If You Continue in the Faith

He has Delivered Us Colossians 1:13-14 ESV “He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” The reason that Jesus Christ gave his life for us on that cross was to rescue (deliver) us out...

Just as a general word of advice, walking with the Spirit, starts with being prepared to be angry at

...the Devil. The Devil will have his own reasons, for doing what he is doing - but if you leave him to act unconfronted, he will make your life worse, in so many ways. You really have to be prepared to be angry at the Devil. He does not know one sin from another, he does not know how to...
  11. Love One Another Earnestly

Serious Minded Jesus Followers 1 Peter 4:7 ESV “The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.” As followers of Jesus, we are to take God, Jesus Christ (God the Son), his word, the gospel of our salvation, and his commands (New...
  12. He Redeems Your Life from the Pit

Forget Not all His Benefits Psalms 103:1-5 ESV “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit...
  13. What is redemption? How is redemptive suffering not an unjust whipping boy?

St. John Paul II teaches that through our suffering we can share in Jesus' redemptive suffering and thereby help others achieve salvation. J. Sollier defines redemption as either 1) paying a ransom price for sin or 2) atonement for an offense. Together this raises two questions: How is...
  14. What is "The Gospel"?

The Simple Gospel? When you hear the word “gospel” or the phrase “the gospel of Jesus Christ,” what comes to mind? For me, it used to be that I thought of the “The Four Spiritual Laws,” a gospel tract put out by Bill Bright of “Campus Crusade for Christ.” In summary, the four laws state that...

The Risen Christ mediated, new covenant believers reason to avoid ungodly living/sinning. Shouldn't done out of fear of punishments assessed in the old obsolete Mosaic/Sinai covenant law ordinances (Deut 28). The sin atoning death of our Lord/God & Savior Jesus the Christ. Fulfilled/PAID IN...
  16. What is "walking in the light"?

1 Jn 1:5-10 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have...

The high priest serves as a mediator between God & the people. 19. The Way That He Loves

Summary Colossians 3:1-11 We, as followers of Jesus Christ, are to set our minds on things above, on the things of God, and not on things that are of this earth. And we are to put to death what is earthly (worldly, fleshly) in us – such things as sexual immorality, impurity, sinful passion...
  20. What We Can Learn From The Ravi Zacharias Story.

Upon thinking about the late Ravi Zacharias, and upon thinking about my own struggle with sin, there was a question raised up from the depth of my soul. The question was, "Is repentance enough?" The question came to me thinking empathetically about how Ravi might have thought about his sin...
