The Risen Christ mediated, new covenant believers reason to avoid ungodly living/sinning. Shouldn't done out of fear of punishments assessed in the old obsolete Mosaic/Sinai covenant law ordinances (Deut 28).

The sin atoning death of our Lord/God & Savior Jesus the Christ. Fulfilled/PAID IN FULL heavens required sin sentence/wage/payment due=DEATH.

Jesus resurrection is Father's stamp/receipt:

Sins required BLOOD payment, received & accepted!

Under the NEW Risen Christ mediated Eternal Blood Covenant:

Heb 9:15 For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.
(My Parsing vs 15: Christ mediates a NEW covenant, that promises an eternal inheritance. Christ's sin atoning death; Completely Frees-Pardons-Forgives-Removes. ALL/Every - Past-Present-Future sin. Whereby nullifying ALL the Punishment/Judgment/Curses invoked/owed under the now Paid in Full/FULFILLED old/1st sin condemning covenant.

Heb 13:20 Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep,
(my note: Believers are Forever/Eternally at peace with God through FAITH placed in the ETERNAL BLOOD COVENANT PAYMENT of our Eternal High Priest - Lord/God & Savior, Jesus the Christ)

New covenant believers reason to avoid ungodly living/sinning should be done out of Love for Christ & those around us.

Great Christ Given Commandments:

Matt 22:
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 And Jesus replied to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

38 This is the first and greatest commandment.

39 The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others].
(MY NOTE: Love God 1st & Love your brother)

40 The whole Law and the [writings of the] Prophets depend on these two commandments.” (Also see Mark 12:28-34, John 13:34-35)
(MY NOTE: If we truely love God & our brother. We won't kill, steal, covet, falsely accuse etc)

Royal Law:

Ja 2:8 If, however, you are [really] fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself [that is, if you have an unselfish concern for others and do things for their benefit]” you are doing well.

Law of Christ:

Gal 6:2 Carry one another’s burdens and in this way you will fulfill the requirements of the law of Christ [that is, the law of Christian love].

A few Love verses:

Gal 5:14 For the whole Law is fulfilled in one precept, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself [that is, you shall have an unselfish concern for others and do things for their benefit].

Rom 13:8 Owe nothing to anyone except to love and seek the best for one another; for he who [unselfishly] loves his neighbor has fulfilled the [essence of the] law.

1 Thes 4:9 Now concerning brotherly love, you have no need for anyone to write you, for you have been [personally] taught by God to love one another [that is, to have an unselfish concern for others and to do things for their benefit].

1 Jn 3:23 This is His commandment, that we believe [with personal faith and confident trust] in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and [that we unselfishly] love and seek the best for one another, just as He commanded us.

1 Jn 4:
7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love

1 Corinthians 13:
4 Love endures with patience and serenity, love is kind and thoughtful, and is not jealous or envious; love does not brag and is not proud or arrogant.

5 It is not rude; it is not self-seeking, it is not provoked [nor overly sensitive and easily angered]; it does not take into account a wrong endured.

6 It does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with the truth [when right and truth prevail].

7 Love bears all things [regardless of what comes], believes all things [looking for the best in each one], hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times], endures all things [without weakening].

Summery:
Love; patiently endues, is always kind, truthful & forgiving.

Love is never jealous, envious, boastful, proud, arrogant, rude selfish, provoked, vindictive.

NKJ 1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.

Love; patiently endues, is always kind, truthful & forgiving

Was this kind:

NKJ John 2:14-16 And He found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the moneychangers doing business. 15 When He had made a whip of cords, He drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers' money and overturned the tables. 16 And He said to those who sold doves, "Take these things away! Do not make My Father's house a house of merchandise!"

NKJ Matthew 23:33 "Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell?

NKJ Galatians 5:11-12 And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offense of the cross has ceased. 2 I could wish that those who trouble you would even cut themselves off!

NKJ Galatians 1:8-9 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

Etc...

Time to disconnect ourselves from the punitive yoke of sin guilt & condemnation invoked in the old obsolete covenant cut at Sinai.

The Jesus sin atoning redemptive work Fulfilled/Paid in Full sins heavenly required price/wage.

Time to understand & connect ourselves to the complete remission/pardon from sin. Found/accessed/received in the new eternal blood covenant (Heb 13:20) mediated by our Lord/God & Savior, Jesus the Christ. We access His sin payment thru faith (Rom 5:1-2) placed in Jesus sin atoning death & resurrection.

John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

(My parsing jn 1:17) The old fulfilled law covenant established at Sinai WAS mediated by a faithful servant/Moses. Grace & truth ARE NOW mediated by our Lord/God & Savior, Jesus the Christ.)

Have been disconnected for quite some time.

In the grace & truth mediated by Jesus the Christ (Thanks for writing His name and title this way, BTW), John told us that love for God is keeping His commandments...and Scripture clearly tells us at times love may not be so nice, so Paul's writing creates a tension that needs to be resolved. Also, Love neighbor quoted in the NC Writings from Leviticus 19:18 is written in the context of [properly] rebuking neighbor who is out of line with God.

The Bible refers to Jesus’ sacrifice as a literal ransom:

Mark 10:45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

1 Timothy 2:6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time

Heb. 9: 15…now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

We do have the blood specifically mentioned in Revelation 5:9 They sing a new song: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slaughtered and by your blood you ransomed for God saints from every tribe and language and people and nation;

Atonement is a huge misunderstood topic which all the theories do a poor job explaining, look at just one aspect they do not address:

Are we in agreement:

1. Jesus life is the unbelievable huge ransom payment?

2. The ransom payment was made to set children free to go to the Kingdom and be with the Father?

3. Deity (Jesus and God both) made this unbelievable huge payment?

4. All these fit perfectly a ransom scenario?

5. The scripture is not describing Jesus’ cruel torturous death on the cross as being like a ransom payment, but as being a ransom payment?

6. This was all done for “many” and “God’s saints” in some way and in other ways for “all” people?

You may have a problem with “6”, but I am just quoting scripture.

If it is not a kidnapping then it is no “ransoming”, but the Bible tells us there is a ransom payment at least being offered and definitely made for “many” and “God’s saints” and redemption (setting free).

Peter even help us out more by contrasting the unbelievable huge payment of Christ to just a payment of silver and gold. Who might take silver and gold, so it can be a good analogy for Peter? 1 Peter 1:18 You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold,

A kidnapper, in general, holds back the parent’s children awaiting an acceptable ransom payment, so who do you blame for keeping children out of the Kingdom, since we sure do not want to blame ourselves?

The Kidnapper cannot be God since He is not an undeserving criminal kidnapper holding His own children back.

Also the Kidnapper would not be satan, since God has the power to take from sayan, without paying anything to satan. There is no cosmic Law saying you got to pay the kidnapper and it would be wrong to do so if you could get around it and satan is fully undeserving.

We know death, sin and evil were concurred with Christ’s death and resurrection, but those are not tangible things needing to be paid anything.

So who is the kidnapper?

When you go up to a nonbelieving sinner, what are you trying to get him/her to accept: A doctrine, a denomination, a book, a theology, or something else. NO, you want the nonbeliever to accept “Jesus Christ and Him Crucified” and if he does a child of God is released to enter the Kingdom and be with God, but if the sinner rejects “Jesus Christ and Him crucifies” a child is kept out of the Kingdom.

Does this not sound very much like a kidnapping scenario with a ransom being offered?

“Jesus Christ and Him crucified” is described in scripture as the ransom payment?

Would the sinner holding a child of God out of the Kingdom of God describe a kidnapper?

“Jesus Christ and Him crucified” is a huge sacrificial payment, like you find with children being ransomed?

Parents will make huge sacrificial payments to have their children released.

In Exodus 20:6, God wanted us to love Him and obey His commandments, and there are many other verses in both the OT and the NT that associate our love for God with our obedience to His commandments, so obedience to God has always been about expressing our love for him. The greatest two commandments are the greatest because they are inclusive of all of the other commandments. If we love God and our neighbor, when we won't commit adultery, theft, idolatry, murder, kidnapping, rape, and so for for all of the other laws that God has given, so love fulfills the law because that it what it is essentially about how to do, and if someone's obedience to the greatest two commandments isn't inclusive of God's other commandments, then they are not treating them as being the fulfillment of the other commandments.
