  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Reasons to not vote Left or to vote Left

Reasons not to vote Left This is always the big one in my experience: 'The Soviet Union collapsed in 1989 proving that communism doesn't work.' It wasn't communist. The aim of the dominant party in the USSR was to transform it into a communist Soviet state, but this aim was never achieved...

Should we choose our political future using mainly rational or empirical criteria?

Empirical - I'd guess most of us start there because it seems pretty simple. Take all the countries that are or were socialist and ask how things worked out. Rationalism then arrives when we look at reasons why a particular system worked out in one and not in another and which things worked and...

For the sake of cinema, Disney needs to be broken up Their profits suggest we love their movies, but is there a problem with all these mergers? Are we living in the Second Gilded Age?

    What is the right balance?

It is laziness that allows people not to see both sides of an argument, that and arrogance, wanting to continue to hold the stand you took, perhaps many years ago, when you started voicing an opinion in politics, having entered from either the right or the left. I would suggest the right...

    Is Capitalism Working?

Given the actual threat of a socialist government in the UK that is truly Marxist in its instincts and a growing resentment across Western society to rich people I thought I should ask the question. Given the level of entrenched inequality in Western society, the decreasing levels of social...

    An Underutilized Competitive Advantage?

I had a thought, which I am not claiming to be completely original, but that I have not heard articulated in a discussion, which I am also not claiming to not have simply forgotten, and I thought it might make for interesting discussion. I think most people would agree that corporations, in the...

    Two Kinds of Christianity?

I am deeply perplexed that many of my political views differ wildly from those of many dear Christian sisters and brothers that I've known for a long time. I am a registered Democrat, although I think of myself as more of an Independent. I am opposed to some aspects of the Democratic platform...
