  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

US ambassador Mike Huckabee causes uproar by claiming Israel has a right to much of the Middle East: 'it would be fine if they took it all'

Our world is shared by people of many faiths, and acquisitive colonialists cannot just trample on the rights of others claiming Biblical promises. According to AI, 31.7% of people on earth are Christian.

God has told us to go preach the Gospel to every nation. So instead of being bad-guy Christian colonists and exploiters, how about converting the other 68.3% by showing them what Jesus was really about---not genocidal land grabs but love.

Sure they can, especially with US backing.

If Huckabee had said that Israel has no plans on expanding its borders and the US would want that position to remain, then all would be good. But he was didn't say that, did he. He said that IF Israel tried to expand its borders then 'it would be fine'.

No, it wouldn't be.
Quote:
Huckabee responded: “It would be fine if they took it all.” Huckabee added, however, that Israel was not looking to expand its territory and has a right to security in the land it legitimately holds.

Not relevant
If I said would "it would be fine if I hurt whoever I want for any reason" I would be a total so and so.
If I made a follow up statement "I don't plan to randomly hurt people on a whim" I would still be a so and so.

It looks like I have to point out specifically that the matter at hand is NOT anything to do with whether Israel is looking to expand its territory or not. But the fact that Huckabee said it would be fine if they did.

It's like my wife saying she's most definitely not going to have an affair with the guy next door, but she'd see no problem in it if she did.

Why aren't you grasping this somewhat obvious point?

Because I have the ability to understand that part of his comment was based on a biblical question that he was asked, and the other part was general commentary.

I’m sorry you can’t see that

Nope,
His general commentary can clearly be interpreted as
"Israel is entitled invade any country in the middle east"
if people make such general commentary they are going to get attacked, the onus is on them to be more clear if they want to speak to the public.

That you don't understand that what he said was wrong...well, there's nothing that I can add.

It may have been based on some minutia from the Bible, but the question was asked of the real world.

It was a question asked from a Biblical viewpoint - the reply was from a Biblical viewpoint with the very obvious caveat showing that in todays world there are no plans for expansion.

OK, so Biblical viewpoints have no effect on reality. Thanks.

They use the Obama time machine to do that?
Even better. It's called Long-Term-Planning.

The Jews have German blood in them. As Germans go, they're highly intelligent and combine this with Jewish shrewdness, you get banks, credit, and trillions of dollars in debt.

The debt might just push USA to attack the Jews but since the jews virtually owns USA, I'm sure, they'll always arrive to some sort of agreement.

Anyway, I have a big hunch that the Jewish state have that ace up their sleeves to win all wars. They can defeat all the world's armies in one sweeping victory. No one is powerful enough to make war with them.

It's not nuclear weapons, nor God nor the devil. It's too early to speculate and I'm not going to give a guess. But a rough guess would certainly involve advanced technology, something not fielded in any of the world's armies.

I don't have information. I have simply deduced it from their impossibly calm confidence amidst all the threats they're facing. USA can easily make a false flag op if they wish to force the Jewish state to capitulate/surrender like arming terrorists vis Islamic extremist assets with portable nuclear devices. I know how stupid that sounds but I think they can deal with those risks to accomplish a high value objective. But USA don't because that's basically treason unless there's a secret gov't within the US Gov the US puppet show and the Jewish state is totally unaware of. We might actually wake up one day and and see a war the likes of something we can only expect in a horror sci fi films.

that will never happen because Israel created USA. Freemasons founded USA and their emblem is a stylized Star of David. It's not just a coincidence if you study the rituals and traditions. USA is a mouthpiece of Israel.
Hahahaha, snort hahaha.
Wow, no, you got this totally completely WORNG, friend.

The USA is NOT enthralled to Israel because “they planned it that way!”

No, the real reason we’re enthralled to Israel is because if the Jews can't make a go of it over there, they will look for a “safe-place” to go and the USAs still got loads of space.

At present, we don’t want them and they wouldn’t come anyways. If Israel someday capitulates, Arizona is nice, I hear.

[Edit, the “tone” is adversarial, but I mean no disrespect either to @Fantine nor any person of faith, believe what you like, it’s fine]

The closest religion should get to government is when religion produced a person that other people wished they could be.

As it stands now, we’re nearing the government will tell us what is ‘good’ and how best to “be good”, times and most of us will like that.

This is what American religion wants, political power because it’s POWER!

Wielding spiritual power and political power is exactly what Iran has now, why are we striving for that “model”?

It's not like USA is already spending billions of dollars of taxpayer's money so that the Jewish state can make a go over there and it might be better for US economy if all Jews in Palestine relocate to USA.

USA can use the entire Jewish state as base for its armed forces in times of conflict (usually against Muslim targets in Middle East) which benefits the state but more importantly, serves the agenda(s) of both nations. To them it might be worth the extra money spent. Money that came from taxpayers.

It’s come a long way from we give you money to test our weapons, but the aim is the same, keep Jews in Israel, that’s the reason they were “given” a country.
They’re going to do what they have to to stay and thrive, if other people get killed over them achieving this goal, well, dems the potatoes, don’t be “born” in the wrong place.
